Is it okay to kill a human?

A lot of abortion issues revolve around the fact that while a fetus is human, it's not a person. That leads me to wonder - Do you think it's okay to kill a human? I don't. I also have a very narrow definition of person that doesn't include a lot of humanity, so that might be the reason. This is not a debate about what it means to be a person. There's a thread for that. This is just curiosity if people really think it's okay to kill a human.

whats your real definition? LDS? l bring him up because l know you support his war or at least did. so if you support his war then you do think its ok to kill another human being.

Yes. It IS okay to kill a human, IMO, as long as you have a reason for it.

That really sums it up for me. If somebody is a danger to me or my family, I WILL kill them. To sit around and let them hurt me or my family would be immoral.

Killing another person should only be used if you are in mortal danger or if someone else is is mortal danger that you can save. (No parent in his or her right mind would just stand there if someone was trying to harm or kill his or her children).

And to get to the thread....No, I don't believe it is okay, but it's a complicated issue for me. Hopefully I will never have to be faced with that challenge.

As for the thread, I don't think it's EVER ok to kill an innocent human/person or whatever one wishes to label our species.

Define innocent, and whether varying levels of "innocence" make it more or less acceptable to kill someone.

I don't feel you can just kill for any reason of your chosing. However if you are placed in a war situation of kill or be killed then I think it is acceptable. And for self defense.
I mean if someone was going to kill someone in my family, or I had to kill them. I would kill them if and only if I had to in order to save my family.

is it ok to kill a human? in my opinion, if you are in a situation where you have to defend yourself, and the result is the death of the person(s) you are defending yourself from, then that is ok. that is the only time i deem it ok to kill a person.

Really! That's interesting. I wouldn't mind the stalking my prey part :cool:, but when it came time to kill that would just not be something I could do.

Yeah, I always thought it would be a job I'd be good at and would actually enjoy. I agree the hunt would be the fun part, but I really don't think the rest would bother me either. I wouldn't kill children though.

She probably won't get to it for a while. But ultimately things like self-defense and certain wars could be placed in the non-innocent category. Everything else (without knowing specifics) would more then likely be placed as innocent.

No, its never Ok to kill a human. That kinda suggests that killing someone is normal, and I can't think of any normal circumstances in which people kill eachother.
