Mahat-Buddhi and so-on

Viraja

Jaya Jagannatha!
Sometime back I had raised the thread on how individual atman or the particle of dwelling comes into existence (the creation process).

All I could say at that point is that it is called 'mahat-budhdhi' and say no more about it, because I could not trace the info back, which I had read a very long time ago.

Yesterday surprisingly I came across the info I was looking for, the chain of causal events, in a storybook, under 'Buddhist philosophy'.

But I recollect reading this as a piece of information somewhere from Hindu philosophy, when I originally read it. Glad if someone can source it. Thanks.

This is the chain of causative events, to individual particle of existence, called 'human'.

"Out of ignorace, arises imagination. Thence self-consciousness, thence name and form, thence the 6 senses, thence contact, thence feeling, thence craving, thence attachment, thence becoming, thence Rebirth, thence all manifold ills to which the flesh is heir".

Ignorance = Prakriti or maya.

Imagination = Mahat-buddhi

Self-consciouness = Individual atman or existence.

I wish to know the source of the above in Hinduism, so I could study this in elaborate. Thanks again.
