Democrat controlled San Francisco Police wants to kill people with this...

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
San Francisco police proposal could allow cops to kill suspects with robots

Robots in San Francisco could be allowed to use ‘deadly force’

San Francisco may let police robots use lethal force

If this proposal ever passess, it's officially started folks. Land of the free..err..hunted.

Let the Democrats show they're not an authoritarian party by killing this proposal instead of people instead.

Thoughts on Police wanting to use robots to fearlessly hunt down and kill civilian baddies?

I predicted tech and Ai will eventually create a dystopian society. This is just the first step.

I wonder if the proposal includes air drone executions as well as land robotics?

@Revoltingest this may be of interest to you in particular.

Not just in the US clearly.

There is definitely an international move towards authoritarianism. The lower link is from Stanford U.

Like I predicted, Ai and robotics will one day be center stage in controlling and killing the masses by the elites in power.

Since when were the Police anywhere Democratic, seems like this is a right wing Republican type of behaviour
There are no Republicans in charge in San Francisco. I see it passing with no problems since the police are left wing themselves there.

To your credit however, I do agree Republicans might very well go that same route over the course of time.

Atm its just a proposal, so I'm definitely going to follow this news story.

You talk as if these robots were to be sent out specifically to execute people.
Police already seem to kill quite a few people, without robots, motivated by anger, authoritarianism, nervous fear, and insult over 'disrespect' -- qualities I doubt these robo-cops would be programmed with.

Just because San Francisco politics is overwhelmingly Democratic doesn't mean every action or decision made by police is an edict of the Democratic Party. Some decisions are made for practical reasons, and are not politically motivated.

The difference is there is no fear factor involved, making the decision to kill with robotic platforms that much easier and precise.

I'm willing to bet they will use mass shootings as the vehicle to get this proposal passed, and people are going to applaud this with extreme enthusiasm.

Let's hope reality proves me wrong and Democrats won't place their seal of approval over there.

This will be the first time military platforms will be dispatched on civilian baddies.

Like Waco when a tank was used on the Branch Davidians compound resulting in Timothy McVeigh blowing up the Oklahoma federal building in a revenge attack?

Moreover, the police department is hardly a bastion of liberalism, or even Democratic sympathies.
As usual, it's the right-wing proposing draconian policies.

No. It's in left wing territory where this is being proposed. Not right wing territory.

William Scott is the police chief there, and from my understanding, he's a Democrat.

Isn't the fear factor a major, if not primary cause of police shootings?

Your links seem to alternate between sensational predictions of killer robots running amok and factual details like remote control -- by officers.

These don't seem to be smart robots making autonomous decisions, just armed surveillance drones operated by joysticks. Inasmuch as neither the robot nor the controller a hundred feet away could claim "I was in fear for my life!' wouldn't deadly force be less likely?
