I know we’re not supposed to judge a book by it’s cover and all.
But I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t buy some books that were awesome looking and nothing else

So what are some of your prettiest books on your shelf?
Any faves?
Any preferences in terms of editions? Publishing companies?

Some of my faves include the Penguin Classics Deluxe editions.
I’m currently reading The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas (Richard Pevear translation) and it’s in this edition
All editions in this series comes with deckled edges, “inner flaps” and fun covers.

Clothbound editions
Very pretty editions that are both cool to look at and soft to the touch lol

Word Cloud editions by Canterbury classics
These editions are very flexible books with rather leather-y covers. They have various quotes from the book on the cover, purposefully designed to look like it has been etched into the cover. Really fun books. And probably the reason I still own some books despite not enjoying them when I read them lol

Harper Collins released some “interactive” editions, designed seemingly to help get kids interested in classics. Beautiful covers, gorgeous illustrations and a fun way to get kids to read lol
I collected them all

Pics welcome

My phone is not letting me right now lol so here’s some references instead

When it comes simply to looks, the best looking books I have are filled with my journals, my order book and drawings. They were made by a friend who is a hobby bookbinder. One has handmade paper in it, all are leather bound.

I had a book called Eragon that seemed to have a nice cover to it. The book is also "kind" of interesting - however, the overall series will take a long time to read, and I also feel a bit too "old" to cherish the story as much as I could, since I felt it was catered to a younger audience than Tolkien, etc.

There is a film loosely based on the book.

The Terry Pratchett Discworld book covers are colourful, give a good outline of the story within and created by an Artist.

I also like the artwork on the front of Steven Saylor books. Roman of that period being one of my things. And yes, i bought my first Saylor book based on it's cover.

I'm not familiar with either the book or movie, but I've read numerous times that fans of the former loathe the latter.

You are not alone with your unfamiliarity.

I didn't know there was a book until i read this thread and i remember not watching the film on tv a few weeks ago. The names being the same prompted a quick google ;-)

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
My prettiest books were from my childhood.

I had a huge collection of The Little Golden Books. Attractive to look at and read.

I miss them.
