Threat of US rail strikes returns

The possibility of crippling US rail strikes is returning.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2022/11/21/rail-union-strike-white-house/

There has been a "cooling off" period since before the midterm elections. The postponed contract votes are in the process of happening by the unions involved. A strike, which would impact US freight rail, could begin as early as December 5.
There are two sides to a strike.
Striking workers lose money, it is a last resort when Management refuse to meet half-way.

The same is happening in the UK, rail unions on strike but government and train companies refusing to make an offer.

Why? What are they striking for?
That is mentioned in the article. One thing the unions want is control over absences (due to arduous working conditions). But allowing this would mean the unions could halt freight traffic whenever they wanted to do so.

Sounds good to me.
