Creationist Sentenced to 8,658 Years

He's a famous (or infamous) creationist. This is no different than when Kent Hovind was convicted of tax fraud/evasion, and the headlines described him as a creationist. Or when a preacher is convicted of stealing funds and the headlines say "Preacher convicted of stealing", etc.
...

And when a scientist cheats on the experiments. Okay.

"Creationist sentenced ..."

^ It's called click-bait ...
Someone titled a thread with the intent of getting people to look at it? The horror!!

Is Adnan a creationist? Yes.
Is he a famous, prominent creationist? Yes.
Is this sub-forum specifically about creationism? Yes.
Has his material been posted to this sub-forum before? Yes.

But apparently some would say that's all irrelevant.

What are we supposed to learn from this in general?

He is a fierce opponent of the theory of evolution, and wrote a widely mocked book on creationism.

televangelist, who surrounded himself with young women he referred to as his "kittens",
cult leader, was convicted of sexual assault and abuse of minors.
He is a true "creationist":
With all his kittens...creating lots of babies
With sex abuse...creating lots of karma

Lots of evolution thanks to him

I'm having a hard time with this one. It seems excessive, but televangelists are often bad people and doing real damage and harm to others, scamming and conning their way to wealth. "Give until it hurts" some of them will even say.
And then Creationists also have their own issues. I don't know about Muslims bit Christians promoting it do legit have many features of a cult, and certain aspects do need snuffed out.
So it seems a good thing such sorts are punished, but eight millennia? They probably won't even be able to find his bones in just a fraction of that time.

Adnan's case involved quite a bit of sexual abuse as well.

If one were inclined to commit the types of crimes he was convicted of, Turkey isn't the best place to do it IMO.

Why is the whole focus of this thread on the word choice of the title instead of "Wow this guy is a piece of ****, glad he was brought to justice"?
Adnan Oktar: TV cult preacher jailed for 8,658 years in Turkey

A court in Turkey has sentenced a televangelist, who surrounded himself with young women he referred to as his "kittens", to 8,658 years in prison.

Adnan Oktar, who has been described as a cult leader, was convicted of sexual assault and abuse of minors.

Oktar, 66, fronted his own television channel, through which he delivered religious sermons.

He is a fierce opponent of the theory of evolution, and wrote a widely mocked book on creationism.

He was originally given a jail sentence of 1,075 years but an appeal court ordered a retrial involving 215 defendants.

Ten of them were also given 8,658 years in prison by the court in Istanbul. Many of the other defendants were given shorter terms.

In EvC circles he was known as "Harun Yahya", author of the "Atlas of Creation" and often referred to as the Islamic Kent Hovind. I guess the two now have something else in common....prison time.

Sounds like a real piece of work. Glad he's been brought to justice.
