Question about chakras and the spine

an anarchist

Your local anarchist.
Hello, I was reading about chakras. Anyone here know a thing or two about them?

I read that the chakras are located along your spine.

You see, I bent my spine when I was 20. I was homeless for a little bit and I had a a heavy bag. I was in the slouched position with the bag over me for a good amount of the time. As a result, my spine is now bent.

I was wondering if my bent spine effects my chakras. They aren’t aligned because of it, right?

I’m hoping I can straighten out the spine with the physical therapy I am currently in. I see a spine doctor next year too so I’ll see if they can fix me up.

Anyways, does anyone know if this might effect my chakras? I’ve worked with chakras before when I would meditate the Tibetan Book of the Dead.

Nope.
Or better, depends on the school. They are aligned with an imaginary vertical line (or plane). Your forehead chakra and your crown chakra are not connected to the spine, that alone should have ticked you off the idea of location along the spine.

I had scoliosis diagnosed when I was around 10. I had some physical therapy and I picked up archery. It took years (I grew 3 cm from age 27 to 40 due to the straitening) but it's practically gone now.

Some systems have 49 chakras in them. Some talk about the chakras being like flowers that normally point down but then point up when they're opened. There are other views.

There's differing schools of thought on this. I tend to be of the mind that the "energy body" so to speak can be corresponded to the physical body but isn't anchored to it. As such, the root chakra isn't literally at the base of your spine and connected to it like some sort of physical ligament... because it isn't a physical anatomy thing it's an energetic anatomy thing. Many put a lot of credence in connections between energy anatomy and physical anatomy, though.

Chakras are in the astral body, and it isn't bent, so you're good. The spleen (or rather it's astral counterpart) has a role in esoteric spirituality as well, so a person who has had a splenectomy doesn't suffer because of it.

Technically you have 114 chakras but the major 7 are usually the ones anyone concerns themselves with. They are a part of your soul and "Alignment" has more to do with them doing their job correctly and not being blocked by trauma, thought patterns, or being overactive. If your spine is bent that is physical, and should not affect the functioning of any chakra. It's more a part of your soul than your physical body.

Also keep in mind the things that happen in the physical secular world are manifestations of what happens on the spiritual energy planes, but very rarely does the other way around happen.
