Why do you think she was great?
She said yes to God.
She was faithful to God
And Mary was the Jesus mother

28 The angel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.29Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30So the angel told her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus. 32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, 33and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”

38I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her.

I don't know all the women who have ever lived, so I can't possibly say.

I bet the best one probably lived somewhere unknown, her name was unknown, and she's lost to history...

We actually know very little about her or what she may have done in her life, apart from being the mother of Jesus.
So it is difficult to compare her with other great women.
She said yes to God.
She was faithful to God

Luke 1:30 The angel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.

I'm going to side with my mother. Who, I think I have stated once, was also named Mary. She was pure awesome. Also, in my pantheon there is a deity called the Mother who is highly incredible. Graceful as a ballet dancer and aggressively protective like a mother bear (probably not an actual woman but definitely a maternal type figure).

That is a narrative promoted by Islam and to a lesser extent Christianity. From an objective perspective, we simply don't know enough about her life to say anything with certainty.

She said "yes" to God? How many others did God ask? So that's hardly a fair test.

She was "faithful" to God? In the context in which you are saying this, one can hardly help noticing that she had only one child with God. James and he rest were fathered by Joseph.

And God playing faivourites fails to impress me much with respect to those so arbitrarily chosen.

A song about Mary (the feminine divine) performed by the author, and young Irish Catholic woman that understood the idea far better than most ...
