'US ready to strike Iran on Good Friday'
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF AND AP

The United States will be ready to launch a missile attack on Iran's nuclear facilities as soon as early this month, perhaps "from 4 a.m. until 4 p.m. on April 6," according to reports in the Russian media on Saturday.
According to Russian intelligence sources, the reports said, the US has devised a plan to attack several targets in Iran, and an assault could be carried out by launching missiles from fighter jets and warships stationed in the Persian Gulf.

Russian news agency RIA Novosti quoted a security official as saying, "Russian intelligence has information that the US Armed Forces stationed in the Persian Gulf have nearly completed preparations for a missile strike against Iranian territory."

If this does happen, I will apologize to you for my skepticism.

If it doesn't happen, I hope you will apologize to the forum for posting an article that looks like it comes from a biased website. (And one that appeared on April 1st, no less.)

Umm, this supposedly arose from a Russian intelligence source, and Olmert just got through saying "Huh??" I usually find Great Calgarian's posts rather suspect, myself, but this particular story happens to be true.

http://www.iranmania.com/News/ArticleView/Default.asp?NewsCode=50648&NewsKind=Current Affairs

Why? Simple. Xenophobic paranoia, here and there alike.

The fact that you have found evidence to corroberate the story doesn't make it true; it merely shows that more than one source is intent on stirring up trouble.

I didn't say that the rumor had any basis. I'm just noting it wasn't made up by the media. Again, I don't rank GC's politics very highly, but he wouldn't owe you any sort of apology if the rumor didn't turn out to be true. It arose from a legitimate intelligence source, and they just happened to be off-target. I was concerned over this at first, myself, but I don't distrust Olmert so intensely that I think he'd lie about it.

When I saw the thread title "Watch out for phophecy on Good Friday!", I was kind of hoping for something related to Jesus Christ. Instead, we have another half baked wacko conspiracy theory that will not occur.

This originated in the Jerusalem Post, Xeroid, and it actually had Russian intelligence worried. Now, you can joke that "Russian intelligence" is an oxymoron, but, again, this one really isn't GC's fault.

If it doesn't happen his post will soon be forgotten like all the rest from other people just like it. If it dose happen we will all have a lot more to worry about than your apology.

Guess I better apologize now. Did not know that I am not allowed to post an article that comes from a 'biased' website. Guess I have to read more on the forum rules to find out which 'biased' website I must not visit.:p

The article was posted on April Fool's Day...that should have been the first clue. Second, it isn't even remotely believable.:biglaugh: I'm going to file this under 'T' and find something meaningful to read. :jiggy:

Actually I was praying hard that I will not get an apology. What is the use of an apology if that prophecy is fulfilled?

Actually this conspiracy may have an element of truth in it. We see in many other posts that many RF members do believe that US is going to attack Iran within the very near future. The Globel Research and sites like that, by publishing these conspiracy may prevent the US from launching the attack. That is part of the reason why I posted this 'news' to get it to spread widely.

This is the proof:
Israeli PM denies Iran attack plans

Standing alongside Merkel, Olmert insisted that Israel had no desire to see fresh conflict in the region [AFP]

Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, has dismissed suggestions that Israel is working with the US in drawing up contingency plans for conflict with Iran.

His comments followed an assessment given to the Israeli cabinet on Sunday on the possible outcomes of a confrontation between Tehran and Washington.

"Declarations that there is an American plan to strike Iran that is being co-ordinated with Israel which would at the same time attack Syria and Lebanon is not familiar to me, and is a baseless rumour," Olmert told a Jerusalem news conference on Sunday.

After all the publicity, Israel comes up with an official denial, thus preventing the prophecy to come true. All you RF members can sleep well for the whole Good Friday, and enjoy your fellowship.:p

By the way, this is a good 'website' accepted by Feathers in Hair:D , I hope.

I hope I didn't infer that anyone was being discouraged from visiting any other website, however founded in credibility they are. And one is always free to post articles that come from any website (as long as it's not racist, pornographic or otherwise extremely inappropriate)- I just, personally, think that if one wishes to report on such an alarming bit of news, that they might wish to report on it from other sources.

My apologies if I've given the impression that I intended an unkindness.

The original article was posted last month. Russian intelligence, which answers to the Russian government (who are supposedly interested in being taken seriously), was actually concerned. Israel, supposedly a serious government, actually went to the trouble of officially denying this story, thus a reasonable number of people in official positions were apparently concerned enough to make inquiries. I didn't seriously expect this to occur, of course, but I don't think that your attitude is called for.

I did not say you have been unkind. Just that you may be too objective in 'ruling' that this site I quoted the article from is biased. I would be surprised if you can find a site in the www that is unbiased.:D
