Be good to all, no matter faith or no faith

When something comes from an unprovable source, I think that probably puts it in a different category, especially when it is gobbled up wholesale by some. How do you counter such?

We are in discussion, so with that in mind, I just believe differently.
PS remember that I as a strong skeptic don't believe in evidence, proof, truth and all that like most atheists.

I would. I think I just blocked like person 15. 6 or so months here and person after person who cannot behave, cannot have an adult conversation. They rush to baseless attacks. It’s really sad.

Well, I am one of those in regards to some other posters in some sense.

Grammar: Well, I am one of those in some sense in regards to some other posters.

Perhaps just recognising, and if possible, removing the barriers between us? My rant, as usual, is that there tends to be far more barriers erected by religious beliefs than not having such. And added to any existing ones which might be there anyway.
True, some theists can have a look at non believers or people from other beliefs as bad or negative. That is the human ego playing.

Often allied to religious texts though, and as to such, much isn't too negotiable as to the meaning therein.

Well, you can find dogmatic beliefs in some non-believers, which are non-negotiable also. Even I have dogmatic beliefs. I just try to accept that you might have other ones. :)

But, but, are they backed up by God?

It doesn't matter. I am Rational and you are not. ;) You can use other words than God, yet the effect ends the same way.
I am right and you are wrong and that can't be negotiated or doubt, because it is a fact with evidence.

That one comes in many variations and has nothing to do with God.

Hey, I'm not the one who constantly uses God to back up my claims. Not noticed? Most arguments can be made apart from the killer - because God did it, God tells us this, etc. Given that the majority of people do believe in a singular God.

Are we as human beings not supposed to be good to our fellow human beings?

Disagreement will always be there, especially between believers and non-believers. But why are we so mean to each others?

Are we not all brothers and sisters?

Question: What can we do to show more respect and kindness toward each other?

Learn names. Work at that. It can be insulting to find out a person who you see a lot hasn't even made the effort to learn your name. Then use that name.

Honestly, evidence and rationality doesn't work on morality, usefulness and metaphysics. If you believe that you have in effect replaced God with evidence and rationality.
So you can stop using God and it makes no difference because you have just replaced the idea of God with another sets of ideas, but the effect is the same.

Erm, if you tell all the others I'll believe you. :D

We could start by realizing that almost all of us believe in something.

Over the centuries, religions have tried to claim ideas that aren't solely their's. For example, many religions claim to have a lock on morality - so NOT true. And in the case of the OP, there is the subtle hint that only the religious are believers. Well as a secular humanist I can tell you that while I don't believe in supernatural (or otherwise) gods, I DO believe we can solve our own problems without divine intervention.

As a sad / interesting side note: IMO, neither the religious belief nor mine have a lot of evidence to back them up these days :(

The OP is not trying to take away belief from humanists or any other form of belief spiritual or non spiritual.

The OP was meant to find a way to just be humans together no matter belief or non belief or all between.

If I have stepped on anyones toe, that was not my intention.

Well, the problem is that you have to believe that we are all brothers and sisters, since that is an act of faith as there is no evidence for it.
I believe in that we are all brothers and sisters and yet I am a non-believer.

The chain of evolution is evidence enough of it for me. All one species, all one people. And even if we are different species (ie Neanderthal or other hominids), we still share the tree of life.
