I guess Boston Massachusetts is now 'WOKE'

At least according to Fox News.

This growing list of "White supremacist" labeled founding fathers – be they Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, or now Peter Faneuil – are being defined, diminished, and dismissed over this issue. Any contributions they made to the creation of the greatest nation on the face of the earth are now deemed irrelevant to the woke protestors.

Those of course, are rhetorical questions. We know the cancel culture crowd would much rather award themselves "Woke merit badges" for speaking out against men dead and buried for centuries rather than risk their safety or expend any money or energy on trying to save the human trafficking victims of today.

It’s a growing woke trend that brings to mind this quote from George Orwell’s "1984": "Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Who or what is next on the woke cancel culture list?

To which I can only say, stand for liberty. Fight for it while you can.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
It's ignorance for activism with people.

Just about everyone was racist in that era. They just want to think they can sugarcoat and whitewash history.

Ohhh.. whitewash....... that's bigoted now isn't it?

A lot of them where what would become known as white supremacists. Like Thomas Jefferson. He didn't care for his slaves, he didn't release them, and he quickly caved without putting up a fight efforts to condemn slavery and do away with it from the start. George Washington as well died a slave owner.
Me thinks you are just uncomfortable accepting this. It doesn't diminish or downplay with they did. It's pointing out they were mostly slave owners and did see black people as inferior.
And clearly this sort of downplaying has been successful because I couldn't tell you how many people I've met who erroneously believe Washington freed his slaves.

There were black slave owners as well.

Black tribesmen captured black tribesmen for the slavers in Africa among other areas.

Indigenous nations also held slaves and assisted the Confederacy.

If you want accurate history then all is to be included.

Except in this case the OP is Fox was crying over the racist Founding Fathers (and, yes, many of them were) being called out as racist.

I think it was essentially the norm in that era which is why just about every wealthy landowner participated with the slave trade. Probably due to the Bible's influence sanctioning it would be my guess.

But agreed, black people were regarded as sub human.

"Woke culture" only exists in the minds and mouths of right-wing propagandists and the idiots that pay attention to their constant diatribes. So anything they have to say about it is just going to be made up nonsense.

Poor sensitive suffering snowflakes...cannot bear
to endure names of former slave owners on buildings,
even when they were founders of the country.
They judge all by the modern standards de jour,
focusing solely upon faults.

the greatest nation on the face of the earth

Please, a little modesty. Slavery, the KKK, genocide of the indigenous population and historical involvement in 102 wars (and counting). And don't even get me started on the junk food pedalled around the world.

He said "greatest", not "perfectest".
It's arguable.
But not an argument I'd make.

I'm wondering how Big Gay Al would look on a federal institution?

That would be just super!

I understand, I ain’t a morning person. It can be really annoying when those people are making such a racket while you are trying to sleep in. But no matter how hard you try to fight it eventually you have to get up and join the woke people.

This ain’t about covering up the truth, it is about uncovering it and facing it with eyes open,

But isn't America the only country?

I’ve never understood the reticence of Americans to bash their founding fathers. We were doing that back in Primary (elementary) school.
Captain Cook may be “responsible” for finding Australia for the white folks but was a completely racist jerk, they taught us. Once we were old enough to be beyond black and white thinking, so to speak.

Though I suppose our reverence is primarily with the WWI diggers. Many of whom, to their credit, donated their own war medals to the PNG tribes who helped them get home safely. True story. So they may have been racist by today’s standards, but many did some good PR moves all the same lol

Their racial views are not why they are remembered and revered.

Humanity is beautiful. Humanity is cruel. We help each other. We slaughter each other. We achieve great things. We commit terrible deeds. We love. We hate. We build. We destroy. We welcome and appreciate each other. We enslave and tear down each other.

Humanity is complicated.

I am proud of America and her past, in all its beauty and cruelty. I would not see her history erased. I would remember it and preserve her memory, however great and however terrible.

It's basically a loud minority throughout media.

In real life I don't think most people really give a hoot about wokeness and all that.
