Alex Jones to pay 49.3 million in Sandy Hook civil case.

It's about going after people's ability to question things and think for themselves.

No it's not. The trial itself was about Jones spreading disinformation about a tragic event. He defamed families of schoolchildren killed by a school shooter.

That Jones is a rightwing conspiracy theorist doesn't help critical thinking skills. He profits from taking advantage of fear, insecurities, politics, and ignorance. People's ability to make informed decisions is absolutely effected by these shysters who use media to spread these falsehoods for profit.

I do wonder what such people actually think the truth of a matter is. In the privacy of their own mind, so to speak, do they really really believe what they proclaim in public or do they really think "Of course this is just a crock of **** but I can monetise it, so that's what I'll say."

I think people like Jones and Trump have essentially indoctrinated themselves over time so they can sound confident and convincing as they lie. Jones really appeared to be in distress as he admitted in court that the Sandy Hook killings actually happened. Even though he admitted it he was still using his usual tactic of "..., but there are still questions." Tucker Carlson does a similar thing, by questioning facts in a way that seems like reason and a process of thought, but is actually a way to reject facts and introduce untrue alternatives.

Of course these disinformation peddlers exist because there are people willing to be influenced and duped. It is a co-dependent relationship that is a major sickness in America.

So you think such peddlers know that they are lying?

We've got clip after clip from the prosecution admitting their motives are to shut Alex Jones down and they even admit they want to go after other people as well with similar so called "trials". The Austin court system is heavily biased and is clearly being weaponized by liberals. This is what this country has to come. Weaponized court systems for the culture war. This is the civil war and you know it. That's why you support such henious actions.

They don't care about the Sandy Hook parents. Furthermore Alex Jones and his entire operation have virtually no money. So the idea it's about money is ridiculous. They just want to shut down Alex Jones. Finanicial assassination. However, they don't realize that Alex Jones doesn't really need money to keep talking. Many people will listen to him wherever he goes. He doesn't need infowars; he is infowars really. Furthermore they're turning him into a martyr so he'll just get bigger and he knows it.

I'm sure you would love it if only "approved" opinions could be voiced but that's North Korea not America. The whole idea that opinions and views need official "approval" is totalitarian. It is. So you're going to need to decide if that's what you support or not. Stop lying to yourselves basically.

Your little "god" (wannabe god) judge and her courtroom do not decide what is true. The truth is immutable. No one has a monopoly on truth except God. The government, fact checkers or anyone else cannot decide truth. That is why we have the first amendment in America.

People's ability to make informed decisions is not up to you or any other wannabe know it alls. The fact is people should be free to decide things for themselves. As much as you may believe whole heartedly that your side is always right. You're still using tyrannical and evil means to accomplish your goals. Control freaks are never right; even if they are right they are still wrong simply by being control freaks.

But your totalitarian attempts to silence opposition voices suggests that your side's arguments are weak and failing. Otherwise you wouldn't need to silence them.

So you're wrong and you get what you deserve when the means you use against your opponents is turned against you as well. Just study history. The rise of the Soviet Union. Stalin, Mao, Hitler as well. That's what you are supporting.

Of course not but when a control freak is right they are, er, right, not wrong. Contrary to the nonsense in said post.
Yet even when they are right; they are still wrong to be a control freak.

Why does that not make sense to you?

I think it was the poor sentence structure, not matching what you are now saying.
"Control freaks are never right; even if they are right they are still wrong simply by being control freaks."

I could find you millions of clips of prosecutions admitting their motives (in a murder trial) are to "shut the murderer down," and not only that, if there are other murderers, they want to shut them down too.

How "henious" (try heinous) is that?

No, it's called being held accountable for his actions. He got to say it. But he did speak a lie, a damaging lie, and now he's suffering the consequences.

It is important to create perspective, and not be manipulated to see crimes in isolation, apart from the larger context. The narrowed down version trick, is the very old, and should not fool you. We need to compare this to other things.

Does anyone remember the Russian Collusion Coup, where a Cabal of people, centered on the Political Left, slandered one person, day after day, for several years. They all took pride on causing damage. Unlike this topic where the accused was just one person, bad mouthing another, the Coup was an organized Cabal attempting to inflict suffering on one person with all type of lies. If there is justice this entire Cabal of people will need to pay in money or in jail time. Which is worse, one big mouth attacking you, or an entire gang of cut throats going after you?

Does anyone remember the damage done over many years, refreshed day after day? The Cabal and Coup not only went after Trump, but his entire family and closest allies. Nobody has yet to pay the price for these gang crimes. Innocent people even went to jail, as props, to support the lies of the Democrats. These jailed people should be able to sue the Cabal of criminals for their ill gotten gains.

Now it turns our some Left leaning criminals, in the FBI, conspired to bury the Hunter Biden laptop evidence, by publicly treating this hard evidence as misinformation. This deception was echoed by other members of the Cabal. We may need to address all who participated and benefited by this crime. Biden may not have won the 2020 election without these criminals in his corner. When Trump said the election was stolen, he may have been right. This will be made right by impeachment, with that evidence.

Will anyone face the music, or does a dual standard apply that favors the crooks in Government and Media? The Democrats have shown us, in cities they control, that they support criminals, more than the victims of these criminals. I expect they will attempt to protect their fellow Cabal criminals, by creating victims, as a self defense deterrent; witness tampering. But the clock is ticking and they are only adding to their crimes and the longevity of their sentencing.

Again one needs to maintain context and perspective by comparing similar things to make sure the punishment is in proportion to severity. A gang rape is worse than a single rape and deserves punishment for all the defendants and double for the ring leaders. If not, we need to investigate why criminals are being protected, more than their victims, so we can break the cycle.

You would have to prove that someone had intentionally lied and not just been mistaken

People have a duty to be accurate when making comments that can harm others. One can be convicted for not knowing what he had a duty to know before speaking.

But in this case, we know Jones knowingly lied. He admitted it at trial.

He also lied on the stand. It was a great gotcha moment when the prosecutor, who unbeknownst to Jones already had all of his text messages, let Jones dig his grave lying. The the reveal: We've got your text messages. The look on his face was priceless. He'll hopefully be charged for perjury next. Or is perjury some of the free speech you'd like to see protected?

And there is zero reason to believe that Alex Jones caused any such danger. At least not for rationally minded people who look at this case objectively. You would need to prove intent.

I guess you missed the trial. We know what damage Jones caused, and it was demonstrated to the satisfaction of a jury. The jury has spoken, and I know that you're a huge fan of freedom of speech.

It's about going after people's ability to question things and think for themselves.

You're not talking about Jones' audience anymore, are you? They don't think for themselves. He tells them what to think, and they are defenseless to refuse. They aren't even aware that they being indoctrinated. He preys on their intellectual and moral weakness, and it's apparently pretty easy.

The Austin court system is heavily biased and is clearly being weaponized by liberals.

Your complaints fall on deaf ears. We just saw how the Republicans weaponized the Supreme Court, stocking it with theocratic perjurers. You'll need a different argument.

Control freaks are never right; even if they are right they are still wrong simply by being control freaks.

Are we back to the Supreme Court again? Or maybe you were referring to banning books or forbidding discussion of racial history or LGBTQ matters in schools. Whatever, the right has no standing to make arguments about control freaks and speech censorship.

It seems a very big fine for being a jerk. Oh well.
The lies that he made on purpose harmed others and he made hundreds of millions of dollars off of it. That is why the fine was so high.

It is rather amazing that those supporting Alex think that it is okay to purposefully harm others for profit.

Without the punitive damages he still makes a huge profit with the four million dollar fine. If one has no conscious and is willing to harm others for his own personal gain what is to stop them if the gain that they earn is larger than the fine?

You certainly don’t have to prove that “everyone there” was in on it. I don’t even know what you mean by that but it is nonsense.
If you're going to charge them then you need to prove they were in on it. I can't believe you stand for injustice just because it supports your side. I would never stand for injustice for anyone. But you're all basically in a gang. Blue vs red just like ghetto high school.

The trial was rigged joke. The judge was obviously biased and put all kinds of restrictions on Alex Jones. Completely unfair. The whole trial will be appealed no doubt and proven unfair as it is.

It's not a trial. It's a farce of justice. They really want to silence us all. Alex Jones is just the start. From now on if you question anything you're a target of the weaponized legal system. Basically Democrats want to destroy every institution if they can't always get their own way.

How are they defenseless to refuse? Surely you're being rhetorical rather than literal with such talk. This statement of yours is ridiculous. "intellectual and moral weakness" You're being silly. They're probably smarter than you.

No, but I would like to see fair trials that didn't involve supposedly "accidental" leaks and other such questionable shenangins. By the way you would think they could find something more damning if Alex Jones was as evil as they claim he is.

How silly. They had a job to do. Uphold the constitution. All they did was strike down what was unconstitutional. Abortion is now up to the states as it should be. You act like abortion was illegalized. You can still kill your babies. Relax.

It's amazing how everything is backwards in your mind. Protecting children from child abuse from groomers and race baiting propaganda are good things. The left wants to have intellectual monoploy over the minds of children because they kill their own children with abortions. So of course they have to pervert the minds of conservative children so they can secure the next generation. It's just obviously disgusting political indoctrination of children. Gross.

The last thing we need are children being harmed with such nonsense. Schools should stick to teaching important things like ... I don't know ... how about reading, writing, arithmetic. We'll start there.

Hopefully every state wakes up and does the same thing that Florida has done.

Ultimately it should be the parent's decision. Not woke teachers or law makers. Parents should decide what their kids learn in school. If it's not your kids. It's not your choice. Parent's are tired of this nonsense being pushed on their children.

Do you have any evidence? I could make claims that the trial was far too lenient on Alex Jones. Without any support my claims would be just as valid as yours. You can probably watch the whole trial on YouTube.
