Pagans: literal belief system?

an anarchist

Your local anarchist.
I believe my gods are real. The stories of them not so much.
Interesting, for the sake of further discussion, would you mind listing the gods you believe in? I would like to understand further what led you to discover specific gods, if that’s okay with you.

I like the term muse. This covers the whole range from symbolism, real personage to creativity from inspiration.

Oops. Almost forgot. I do believe they're real.

I'll explain later. My mind is worn from working my behind off on designing a preschool classroom

I meditate before a statue of Nataraja.

Do I worship Shiva? No.

Do I think he is real? As real as this body/mind I occupy.

So'ham asmi.

Surprised to see you answer in a Pagan specific thread. *Hugs*

Hinduism is, indeed, a pagan religion, though not "Pagan" in the sense of Neo-Paganism.

Since "pagan" was lower case in the OP, I felt it was acceptable for me to post here.

Do you believe they are actually real? Or are they symbols for something?

The answer to both of these questions is Yes.

Most people say there are two types of Polytheists.

Hard and Soft.

Hard: you believe the Gods are all physically real and distinct.

Soft: you think they are Metaphorical or all facets of a single all encompassing God. (ie Jungian Archetypes).

I am what I call a Medium Polytheist: I believe they are both hard and soft. They physically exist and are real as differing entities; but they are also still all emanations of a singular Source (the One).

Acceptable.

And I wasn't sure if being Advaita Vedanta you considered yourself "above" discussing such conceptions of Deity.

Maybe pagan just means it’s out of mainstream religions,ie the abrahmics but doesn’t necessarily involve gods, ancestors just as much, anyway just like mainstream there are rituals and ceremonies.

I'm not "above" anything.

Being a transtheist, conceptions of deity are simply not relevant to my worldview.

I would consider that "above" in my own view.

But I think I see what you are getting at. My mind may just be stuck in too "dual" a mindset

I believe in almost all deities. But these are the ones i worship:
Loki, Bastet, Lilith, and Lucifer. Loki and Lucifer...I was just drawn to them and felt they were calling me so I started worshiping them. Bastet...i had a weird dream about. I felt it was a sign to work with her. Lilith... It's a complicated story I don't want to get into.
