Do you believe that when you die you will be going to heaven or hell or somewhere else?

What are your reasons for your answer?
:)

I will go where my karma will have directed me to go. Within samsara, there are differing realms based on the varying degrees and manifestations of attachments that exist in samsara: Heaven (Deva)/Blissful; Demi-God (Asura)/Envy and Struggle; Human; Animal/Ignorance or Prejudice; Hungry-Ghost (Preta)/Intense Hunger or Craving; and Hell (Naraka)/ Anger or Hatred. Whatever my habits are thus far at the time of my death will determine which direction will attract me the most.

This is dependent upon how purified my karma is as well as when I am to die. If I die today, it might be different than where I to die in 60 years. My aim is to practice with diligence to enlightenment and to be free from samsara.

I go by our teachings of the Lam-Rim as well as the Bardos Thodol or better known as The Tibetan Book of the Dead. :)

When I die I have a variety of places I could supposedly go. Not just heaven and hell, some others are as follows:
Become one with the cosmic wonder soup.
Completely cease to exist.
Go to limbo.
Stay in the grave until we rise again to take back Earth.
Reincarnate as a leech
And more...
In any event, I would have to say Heaven (Being just some place better than this.) because there is about a 6:1 probability of there even being a 'Hell' as depicted by the bible (Assuming that at least one of the religions is correct, which is highly unlikely.) If none of the religions are correct and I just cease to exist than I'm still better off. So, I'm headin' to heaven.

Immediately, to be with God in the spirit alone and have a foretaste of either heaven or hell (which are experiences rather than places). After the resurrection, to a new creation where the inescapable love of God will be perceived as heaven or hell depending on the individual's attitude to God. As for the why, beacuse that is what the Church has always taught (although the precise nature of heaven and hell is strictly speaking a theologoumenon - allowable but non-required belief - just probably the most commonly held one). How I, personally, will experience the afterlife, I could not possibly say. I hope that it will be heaven and trust in God's mercy.

I believe I will ultimately end up in heaven, as will everyone ultimately, although the exact nature of heaven is still a mystery to me.

Just my thoughts,

I believe in the concept of rebirth. I see the universe as one gigantic wheel--always in motion; always changing, yet staying the same. I look at the cycle of nature--the way the seasons change, for example, and regard our lives in much the same manner: we are born, we live, we die, and are born yet again. The cycle simply repeats itself. It follows the natural way of things.

I will go to the Summerlands, wait, and be reincarnated.
Allthough, if you ask the assistant manager where I use to work, I am definitly hell-bound.

Frya has promised us that if we follow her teachings without fail we will be allowed to attend her in the starry heavens, bending our knees in devotion for all eternity. We do not, however, believe in divine punishment for sins, nor in any sort of hell.

Hi!

In the Baha'i view, Heaven and hell are spiritual conditions (nearness to / separation from God), not places.

As such, they exist here and now as well as after death, and each of us is in one or the other at every moment as a function of where our heads are at!

That said, all go on to the Next Life, and our circumstances there are initially determined by how well we've succeeded in acquiring spiritual virtues in this life!

But through God's Love and Mercy, we all continue to progress toward Him after death, even those who have initially put themselves into the worst sort of hell! So eventually, we will all come to be near Him (Heaven).

Best, :)

Bruce

Heaven because God's word promises it and God cannot lie and His promises are sure.
Or I could go to heaven before I die if Christ raptures me first.:D

I think when I die I'll be going into a patch of dirt to rot in the woods in Tennessee, then my bones will be put in the largest collection of bones in the US.

At least, that's what damn well better happen! I've filled out the paperwork and everything. :D

Thankyou for your replies. I believe that there is a heaven and hell. When I was little I went to a catholic school and was made to believe that good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell. But that is totally untrue. I believe that the bible is the truth, but I do find it very hard to understand, and how amazing and interesting it is. How could anyone predict events so long ago that will happen in years to come, and be so accurate? I do believe that if I died now I would go to hell, as you need to be saved by God to go to heaven, and I am scared about going to hell, but I hope that soon I will become saved and become a better person! :badger:

If a heaven/hell, or similar concept exists, I think I will be rewarded for my good deeds, and punished for my bad ones. Since finite crimes do not equal infinite torture, I will only be punished to the extent that I 'sinned.'

This is just what I think could happen. I don't really believe in it.

Jesus in me
I will go to heaven if I die before the Rapture. The Bible clearly states that the rapture is to the New Jerusalem which now is in the heavens but at the time of the rapture will be in the clouds;

I will go to Heaven because all are welcome who wish to have that which is good (There is no evil in Heaven) and because I know the way to get there. I could choose to be reborn and I am sure God's judgement would provide me a good situation but because I believe that darkness is coming on the earth and the end is near I would prefer not to be here as a child.
