UKRAINE ... What would we be doing if this was our country?

Spam, wonderful spam (bloody vikings!)
The people of Ukraine........... How amazing their bravery and determination is.

Near Bastanka a group of Ukrainians captured a rocket launching vehicle and torched it. The report says all about it, thus:-
Please copy-paste the link below in to your search engine.....................

Farmers capture and set fire to £12,000,000 Russian missile system in field

This is the moment a £12million Russian missile system burns in a field after Ukrainian villagers reportedly seized it and set it ablaze.
The villagers who captured the vehicle said enemy soldiers were forced to flee ‘like rats’.
They filmed the video near the city of Bashtanka in the southern Ukrainian region of Mykolaiv Oblast on March 1.
Vladimir Putin’s forces have been met with fiercer resistance from civilians than they expected and are thought to be way behind schedule.

I heard that a lot of the Russian troops are young conscripts?

As far as I know, like most conscription based forces, there are different classes of soldiers in the Russian army:
  • Active conscripts - young people drafted into the army at age 18-27, serving 12 months
  • Reserves - former conscripts who could theoretically be called up again until age 27
  • "Contract" soldiers - professionals hired for a specific time on contract, basically career soldiers; as far as I have heard, armored forces and paratroopers, i.e. the people at the spearhead of the Ukraine invasion, are mostly made up of these career soldier types
  • Private contractors - just like the US, Russia seems to employ mercenary forces in some capacity, usually made up of former military guys; the most infamous are Wagner group, an ultra-sketchy outfit run by a Neonazi that has become known for its deployment in Syria and Donbass

Feel free to bring up sources or evidence in support of your claim.
Until you do that - nope, it didn't.
I'm not that bothered about whether I will teach you that Russian troops that retreated without orders were shot down by 'barrier troops'. You have the abilities to research that for yourself, or not.

Much hay is made by Westerners out of barrier troops, which were a) not a routine element of most Red Army formations, b) stopped being used after WW2, and c) never actually shot at their own people anyway. They were penal units that weren't typically trusted to engage in regular combat, and so typically served in rearguard duties while the regular units were engaged in the actual fighting.

The distrust the communist leadership harbored was never aimed at the rank and file troops, but at the Red Army officer corps, a hangup that stemmed from its history as a Czarist remnant that was recalled after WW1 out of pure necessity to fight the White Armies.

Which part of 'barrier troops' shot up any retreating forces during WW2 didn't you get, then?

And the poorest forces were chucked at the enemy because they were valued.
I said I wouldn't teach you, but there's a short lesson.

The part where you come up with actual evidence that this ever happened, I suppose.
You've just told us all that this really did happen during WWII!
You want an answer, please read your own posts!

Russian Recce Drone coming past? Bring it down with a tin of tomatoes, or anything else to hand!

Ukrainian woman 'takes out Russian spy drone with can of tomatoes'

From citizens protesting against Russian forces to people spreading awareness through TikTok by lifting the lid off a 'typical day in a bomb shelter' – and now, taking down drones by catapulting household items at them.

Over the weekend, Liubov Tsybulska, an advisor to the Ukrainian government, shared how a woman in Kyiv took down a Russian drone with a jar of cucumbers from her balcony.

But she was soon corrected: It was tomatoes. Pickled tomatoes, to be exact.

Liubov managed to track down the woman through the power of social media. Elena, who lives in Dniprovskyi, works in a local shop in a district of Kyiv.

She explained that she was having a smoke break on her balcony in the early hours of the morning when an object started floating in the distance. At first, she thought it could have been a bird until she heard a faint buzzing sound.

The mum-of-two grabbed the first thing in her kitchen and launched it at the device.

"I was afraid," she told Liubov. "I thought it may start firing at me. But what a pity for those tomatoes… they were my favourite!"

Volodymyr Zelensky sold his country to the US. He goaded Russia into this invasion because the US wanted him to, he is a puppet and a traitor to his own people. Now Ukraine's are suffering for it. All he had to do was guarantee Russia that Ukraine would not join NATO and he refused.
