Little poem I wrote for my Dad's 90th birthday next week

Greetings fellow poetry enthusiasts!

I hope you are enjoying your experience here on the forum today.

Here's a poem for a big milestone approaching!

Happy 90th birthday!

Our Dad has many fine qualities that we could list
It sure is a temptation we find hard to resist
He is patient and understanding and remarkably calm
If we just follow his example we will do no real harm

You'll never meet anyone as humble as Dad
He is also quite modest I hasten to add
Our Dad believes in always doing the right thing
For 64 years he has worn his wedding ring

Dad taught us to approach life with the right attitude
He encouraged us to always practice gratitude
We also learned to treat people with the proper respect
Our character is something we all need to protect

Our Dad no longer needs to go to work
Happily this has not turned him into a jerk
You will often find him reading a new book
Soups and curries are his favourite dishes to cook

Did I mention Dad has been married for 64 years
He has shared plenty of laughs along with a few tears
He must know some secrets to make your marriage last
If he ever loses his cool he recovers real fast

Our Dad is really the ideal family man
Especially when things don't go according to plan
He loves to spend time playing with the family's dogs
I am fairly certain he has never worn clogs

Dad doesn't judge people according to their looks
He feeds his curious brain with many interesting books
Our Dad is quite loyal to his family & friends
We will all be so sad when his current long life ends

Hope you have a great day!

:)
