Gods are a Dime a Dozen

What makes yours so special?

Every god is special, that’s why they are gods.

As for why my gods are so special to me, compared to the rest? There are many reasons. My gods embody the sides of human nature I resonate the most with. They most embody the inclinations within me pushing me towards my greatest dreams and ambitions. They are an infinite source of inspiration and motivation...

In reality, what I like about the one I serve is that He actually understands what it is to be a human, what it is to suffer, what it is to pay for consequences of sin and everything any man can think of.

Not to mention that He loves us, wants the best for us... a great Father.

Sorry to burst that "loooooving" bubble of yours, but there are an AWFUL lot of dead Jews out there...GOD LOOVING JEWS even, that this God just turned His back on and looked the other way. All those innocent "first-borns" in Egypt, might differ with your loooving God take, as well.

I don't necessarily have a problem with there BEING a God.....but I draw the line when others refer to it as a "loooooving" God. There is a terrific number of dead people out there who differ with your loooving God idea.

And just for conversation, HOW can such a God POSSIBLY know how it is to be "human", when this God is not and cannot ever actually BE human.....and don't copout with the Jesus response. Try real hard and remember, this "looooving God" of yours LOOOOVED Jesus so much that He had him murdered JUST to some curse that GOD Himself placed on mankind, could be rescinded. THAT is true "loooooove", ain't it?

Of course "God" has a gender. In English it is neuter. In many other languages it's masculine. I don't know what gender God would have in languages with animate/inanimate genders, artificial vs natural, high vs low status, or any of the many other genders. And then there are languages with no gender....

Keep in mind, "gender" is a linguistics term for a type of noun class. Except in rare languages -- English among them - it has nothing to do with biological sex.

If you meant what sex God is, this is problematic, too. Our particular species has two sexes. Other species change sexes. Some species have only one sex, and many have no sex at all.
And this is just on Earth. Who knows how many quadrillions of other species there are on other planets with who knows how many different sexes?

It's a big universe. Let's not be parochial, and definitely let's not be speciesist.
God might be patterned after "other sheep, not of this pasture."

How big

Very interesting, especially since this God is quoted as referring TO the existence of OTHER Gods.....which means this one is NOT necessarily the ONLY one, right?
Exodus 20
King James Version

20 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Deuteronomy 5:7
King James Version

7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

That does not mean there are 'other gods.' God said that, speaking through Moses, because people were worshiping false Gods and there is only one true God, the God revealed by Moses.

Please note the Big G and the little g.... God vs. gods. There is only one true God.
Also, if God is NOT really a HE, and is NOT necessarily a SHE, that leaves being an IT as the next likely choice, doesn't it?
Gee, come to think of it, could God be a "THEM"?
I will not call God an it but you can call God anything you want to.

THAT it IS!~ I wonder now if God wasn't actually the FIRST "trans" person, thngy, God, out there. Actually, the way the KJV can be translated is such that God COULD in fact actually be a HERMAPHRODITE. How's THAT grab ya?

Not really no. In the KJV, the character of God is referred with a "they" as was customs for kings and other royals at the time. It's an honorific. God created man in his own image, man here refers specifically to Adam. He made Eve later out of a rib from Adam for she was to be at his service as Adam himself was to be at the service of God. God is specifically a masculine creature in that myth. It's only with time and perspective that the "tiny" personable almost human deity of those myths were transformed into a more spiritual and grand creature. After all, the universe was tiny in the minds of the first myth maker, they could not know how vast and grand it was, even us who know so much more about it often completely fail to grasp its scope.

What makes yours so special?

Your question denotes ownership. Does anyone really own anything??

What makes God so Special? How about this: God loves you Unconditionally. God has set the parameters of your life especially for you. Look around you. Can you see the Love??

All the secrets of the universe stare us all in the face. Can you see or do you gaze just merely upon the surface?

God hides nothing yet you seem to be blind to so very much. Why do you choose this?

It has never been about Believing. If it's merely beliefs that you search for, pick anything that makes you comfortable because beliefs are not what count.

That's what I see. It's very clear!!

But we are talking about God... not about what people do. Any group of people do horrible things.

But how can God BE human? With God, nothing is impossible.

We all recognize love when an innocent person gives his life for another person. That's love, isn't it?
