Why do you say" you have to prove your personal faith and beliefs"

Spirit of Light

You do realize that you keep making threads where you ask people to say what they think of your beliefs, right?

You don't need to do that.
Most of my threads do say what I believe because how can I tell others what they should believe, I can only speak from my belief, and I invite people to say what they believe, I don't invite an attack on my belief but questions are always well, but how people accept it as my personal beliefs is their business. Nobody has to believe the way I do.

And again, this thread is not about me, but the answers you guys give to the OP, so let's stick to that

I don't think anyone ever says "you have to prove your personal faith or beliefs to me" if they're your own personal beliefs. How would they even know them if you haven't pushed them upon them?

I think the only time one says such a thing is when one wants their own beliefs to become the beliefs of another.

If you believe 2+2=7, that's fine. If you want me to believe it, then the burden is on you to prove it to me.

So it is a belief that the world is natural/physical/material or a fact? The joke about God is than it is not the only version of absolute dogma about what the world really is.

Well, the question"prove it" does come up every day in RF, a bit tired of it

I have no need to convert anyone to believe, this thread is about giving answer to the OP, it's not about me as a person or believer.

It's time certain people start answering for their constant "prove your belief, or you just imagine it to be real" a believer do not have to prove to others.

I have a very specific religious philosophy. I've shared it here, and many here, even atheists, are aware of my views. I don't recall the last time someone asked me to prove my views to them. I think most respect my views because I don't expect others to share in them. It's a matter of mutual respect for one's right their own views. I respect their right to their views, and the appear to respect my right to mine. Neither asks the other to prove anything unless they intend to change their views.

Most of the time that question comes up is when God and God existence is mention, you don't often use those words, as far as I know

There is functionally no difference between you go to hell or you are not the correct version of a proper human based on my personal evolution. Both are without proof, evidence, reationality, logic, objectivity and all the rest of that jazz.
If some one says that earth is 6000 year old that a God made it up in six days, etc. in 21st Century, then that is sure irrational. Or that a God has only one way to communicate with people (through intermediaries), then this is questionable.

I would call it a perspective before I would call it a belief or a fact.

For example, the taste of okra or Brussel's sprouts. "Okra and Brussels sprouts are among the worst tasting foods on earth" is neither a belief nor a fact. It is a matter of perspective. Some people like them, some people don't.

Or that I am irrational as a human. There is functionally no difference between you go to hell or you are not the correct version of a proper human based on my personal evaluation. Both are without proof, evidence, reationality, logic, objectivity and all the rest of that jazz.
So I don't care if you treat my like I am going to hell or like a really irrational human. So me they are the same, because they are in the person, who claim it and not about me.

Try this one. Autocorrect did an number on me.

The problem is culture. In some cases God is personal, yet some people treat all versions of God as if it is a case of universal objective authority. And then they use their standard attack version on that God and don't notice that there is another version. In short for the Scandinavian culture God is personal and not about society and all that.

Well, I use another perspective and yet I am not standard religious as for theism or all that.

It's been my experience that most non-Dharmics and non-Pagans will default to the Abrahamic God in any discussion of God, regardless of context.

That is OK. We probably have the largest pantheon of personal God and Goddesses, the number goes into thousands. We do not even know the names of Gods and Goddesses worshiped by other Hindus. One comes across a new one frequently.
So I don't care if you treat my like I am going to hell or like a really irrational human.
I go by Occam's Razor or Buddha's 'Kesamutti Sutta'. Not just heaven or hell, many other thing also have been removed.
