Self worship

I'm thinking of making an altar to myself to remind myself of what I stand for and to use as a tool to better myself. My question is this: what does self worship mean to a follower of a left handed path? I'm still trying to figure that out.

Making an Altar to your GodSelf is a wonderful idea. The GodSelf or Greater Self is the True You, your Conscious Awareness that is the Observer through you. This GS is your True Potential Self, the Platonic First form of that which is You. The physical body provides a vehicle in which the psyche can become aware of itself and then reach out towards the limitlessness of its conscious existence.

You are god, meaning you are an immortal soul/spiritual being aware of itself in ones physical body (as Etu has similarly stated this, this is also stated in Black Magic by Michael Aquino. Black Magic is something I would recommend, you can find it anywhere). "Self Worship" or ones godhood not only means ones Spiritual awareness, but also ones Material awareness in the OU (Objective Universe). You realize you are separate from the herd/the state, you realize you are above all else as an independent being. Proclaiming yourself as one's own God shouldn't be just a simple proclamation. It takes years to study the heterodox/antinomian path and apply it into practice. That should be what you choose to strive for on the Left Hand Path as one's own God or "self worship." Not only is the self above all else, but the self comes first and those come second. To the average person hearing this, they will simply brush that off as nonsense. But that average person has been indoctrinated by Right Hand Path/Judeo Christianity where it seeks to destroy the ego/restraining the soul and blocking it out (The gift of Satan, Gift of Wod, Gift of Set). Being on the Left Hand Path is a tough lifestyle/practice, you will get negative critiques by those willing to choose to judge you or those who attempt to destroy your ego/consciousness. You on the Left Hand Path should be the Strong and curse the weak. Being one's own godhood shouldn't also be about indulging in the flesh, it should also be about becoming successful in the here and now as well through ones Death of immortality.

Thank you for the book recommendation! Im new to all that to the Luciferian path. I'm a pagan Luciferian so technically my path isn't solely luciferian or pagan. It's not purely either path. I thought I understood the concept of self worship but then realized maybe I didn't and decided to relearn. It also feels so weird. I also feel it'll be a lot of relearning and understanding of many things on this path. As you said it takes years to understand heterodox/antinomian path and I've been trying understand for only about a year or so. I have a lot of Christian biases to unlearn even years after leaving it. I finally think Ill have room for an altar to the Godself. What sort of things would I put on it? And do you have more book recommendations on left handed paths specifically on the luciferian path.I've seen a book called Apotheosis online. Have you read it is it useful? I've seen so many books that look interesting that I want to read on the topic it'd be great to know some that'll be a good starting point.

I haven't been able to read too many books cuz I wasn't living in an accepting household when I first started looking. And then I could not afford any. Most my research has been online. But now I might be able to read some and I can't wait.

This actually relates to a bit of my bio story. Back in highschool I really came across the Left Hand Path. Don't get me wrong, I discovered Satanism when I was very young through Metal naturally:laughing:, but when I started to reach my highschool age that is when I really discovered what the Left Hand Path and Black Magick was all about. I did not become a master magician like they show in most hollywood movies of course:laughing:. Being young I used to assume that I knew everything and never really took Magick to seriously, before I finally came to accept the existence of the Prince of Darkness. (Some people can be skeptical of that statement, but its my own take). When I started on the path I was you might say in the same boat as you are now, I was new and assumed a lot naturally. Getting rid of the Judeo/Christian/Right Hand Path systems of indoctrination does not happen right away, it may take a while or even years to fully get rid of it.

Back in my teenage days, I became a member of the Order of the Serpent, originally an organization/school/ but is now considered to be a "forum." They are officially defunct. I learned many things from there and have been grateful to where I am at now. After I graduated from highschool, I moved out of my parent's house to the slums where I did trade school (I actually got suckered in being the naive kid who was new to the public school education system, another reason why I am not thrilled about public schools and the federal government). During my time living in the slums and doing my trade, I never had the chance to study more of the occult/practice the Left Hand Path. I rather had a chaotic lifestyle, being around drug fiends etc. The school that I was at also had remnants of the Satanic panic, I was never allowed to practice my "religion" freely, I was technically living in Federal government property. Ironic of how this country has many hypocrisies. When the pandemic or lock down happened, I finally decided to drop my trade school and pursue higher education. As of now I've been finally having the time to relearn a few things as well. My main interest lies in Setian/Satanic/Left Hand Path Odinic philosophy including concepts of Xeper and Remanifestation. For a while I never considered thinking about joining the Temple of Set, till @EtuMalku asked me the question. This question has made me re evaluate plenty of things on considering joining the Temple. As of now I don't have a sufficient income on joining the organization. Currently I am sticking on completing community college before I transfer to a University. Once when I get my career going, then I plan on thinking again on joining the Temple of Set.

I don't really know a whole lot of books related to Luciferianism. You might as well take a look at Michael W. Ford, he is a well known practitioner/LHP spokesperson in the LHP community. He actually got me started to where I am today believe it or not. And yes Mr. Ford's books are Luciferian related. A warning I should give you, you have those who label themselves as gurus and have almost become well known, be careful some of them are snake oil salesman. Michael W. Ford is legit.

Lords of the Left Hand Path by Stephen Flowers is another good book that I would recommend, it examines the histories and analysis of the Left Hand Path. Some advice I should give you, find what interests you and apply it. A simple quote says it, "Many would-be Magicians accumulate much "textbook learning", yet prove unable to do anything with it." - Michael Aquino.

The internet is a great way to find Left Hand Path related material. Nowadays you can download pdfs, as well as going on websites such as the internet archives.

On Michael Aquino, I am not one of these people that would place every being on a peddlestool, but Dr. Aquino has been the most respected individual in the Left Hand Path community. He helped built an initiatory school that has flourished to this day, and has been both an influence to myself and amongst others. Unfortunately he is no longer earthed bound.:sleepy: Black Magic is the book I would reccommend, it is a book that has succeeded far better than the Satanic Bible- Black Magic_CT : Michael A. Aquino : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive. This is a must for someone who really wants to understand the practice of the Left Hand Path.

Right now...im thinking really hard on what I truly believe. I'm only 19. There's a lot for me to learn. It seems I'm drawn to luciferianism and paganism. But I seem to more focused on luciferianism at the moment over paganism. I don't know if that means I'll leave paganism or stick to mixing both paths or what. I know I agree with parts of paganism and parts of luciferianism tho.

Find what works for you. Don't allow dogma to take control over you. Left Hand Path philosophy is non dogmatic. We don't force ourselves to agree on something unlike those who practice the right hand path. In my own case I come from the Satanic/Setian school of thought. Being 15-19 years old is the best stage for one to venture on the Left Hand Path, we are often grateful on how we found that path early on. I'm 22 right now. We evolve and are thankful of that self evolution.

In LaVeys Satanic Bible he discusses the steps in ritual magic, as well as what to use and what to not use. The Setian way of thinking, is it does not matter what makes a ritual right or not right. Creativity is cherished in the Setian, any kind of symbol whether it is a Pentacle or Pentagram does not matter, it matters to you, if you choose to create your own subjective meaning. You are the Magic, Magic is not just about doing Ritual. "Every act is a Magical act" -Sutekh

Sure, you can dedicate a specific chair or a special cushion specifically for the purpose of meditation. You can even create a chamber specifically for it. You can decorate it with symbols to remind you why you meditate, or decorate it like a throne. Decorating it like a throne might be appropriate if you use the God Pose when you meditate.

{que @EtuMalku to post his image of a goat on a lotus throne and/or images of the God Pose} ;)

This is just my point of view: your mileage may vary.

I'm not sure if an altar to Self would be appropriate, as Self is not something that can be objectively pinned down. Subjective communion would be the way to go, imo, hence the meditation cushion/throne instead of an altar. An altar may be appropriate for a specific aspect of the psyche that can be pinned down if meditation alone is not sufficient. I suppose you can put an empty throne on your altar as a reminder to meditate (commune with Greater Self,) and you might create rituals to help you build good meditation habits, but this could not be compared to actual meditation/communion.

If people were honest with themselves, they would realize they already worship themselves. Everything from volunteering in a soup kitchen to mourning the loss of a significant other is selfish. We do all we do for ourselves. No altar or ritual is necessary to affirm this; it’s fact.

Taking the left hand path means different things to different practitioners. For example, Eastern LHP involves finding an alternative path to “god” by means of “the left hand” or taboo. look into the Aghori.

Carried over into the Western LHP is the breaking of taboos, though the practice is bastardized in most cases. Specifically, breaking taboos just to break taboos.

The taboos we challenge are those we personally hold. In challenging them, we discover whether they deserve to remain taboos or not. We decide our own morality, rather than dogmatically abolish all morality, just because “it’s LHP”.

Finally, in Western LHP exists the practice of apotheosis. That is, crystallization of self in order to transcend death and dissipation. This practice is also bastardized, considering plenty practitioners mix this with ego murder, profaned Buddhist teachings and perverted ideas of a “Holy Guardian Angel” from Crowley’s demented teachings or the “higher/god self” from new aged pop “spirituality”.

Coming from someone who is a practitioner of Black Magic, I personally create my own altars when I have to. Sometimes its all in the mind, subjectively. Everyone's different either way. Magick is something special, I keep in my life.

Indeed, YOU are the temple, the altar, and the throne.

I'd just add that selfishness is not necessarily LHP. In fact it often drives the RHP, arguably more so.
