This thread is for really useful tool info.
And because I'm both woke and progressive, I invite ladies to chime in.

I'm glad I ran across this vid.
(I burn thru a whole lotta disks.)

These are just a few of the reasons that a mechanically marginal person such as myself should only hire bonded professionals for projects...

And never ever ever wear loose clothing around a lathe.
I saw a video (one I won't post) of a Russian machinist
who was instantly evaporated in a cloud of blood.

I had to look up lathe, but I can see why that would be a no-no.

Don't put a running drill near your hair. :(
Any fast rotating power tool will eat up anything it can catch. First order of business for me is to tie my long hair up. Next should be to put on the goggles (I forget that too often so I've made it a habit to never align the edge with my eyes).

Not only lawn mowers can accelerate something. Any fast rotating power tool can do that, e.g. a table saw or a chain saw can pick up a piece of shrapnel from a very old tree or a nail from a 2 x 4.

I'm very very rusty regarding such things. (The test reminds
me of Charpy method of measuring energy.) But it seems an
inaccurate measure of energy because it doesn't address
energy consumed by projectile deformation. The pendulum
motion would also be a function of momentum. If the rock
is much heavier than the bullet, it would deflect the pendulum
using less energy.
Given a choice....I'd rather be hit by the 400 fps rock than a
1000 fps (or so) 357 bullet.

It does that (as energy consumed by deformation doesn't swing the pendulum). But I'd probably mess up energy and momentum also. And there is another factor that goes into the "I'd rather be hit by" equation: area. Small and pointy things penetrate. I'd rather be hit by 4 fps bus than by a 400 fps rock (even so the momentum would be much greater).
But I don't want to split hairs about the physics involved. I just wanted to point out that fast rotating power tools can be dangerous and the destructive power is in the same ballpark as a bullet fired from a handgun.

Of course we had detente all along.
But without some quibbling, the masses would become bored.
We don't want @Wu Wei syndrome to spread.

Shut your pie hole.... you just can't take the criticism abut your favorite move Dune....the pretentious load of boredom that it is
