One book I have been reading a LOT lately is by Pema Chodron. Her books have helped many people. She writes a lot about compassion and treating yourself with kindness - something many people struggle to do! If you were curious at all, there is loads of free content from her on the web -

Suffering can make you all bitter & twisted or it can make you far more compassionate. I am trying my best to focus on compassion but it isn't always so easy!
