I have a question about what is called otherkin

Spirit of Light

Right now I am watching a program on Youtube about people who identify as otherkin, meaning they do not see themselves as fully human (in my understanding so far) And when listening to what they say, it is clear that they do honestly feel and believe they are otherkin. some half-wolf, some say they are from Pleiades and they do surgery to look more like what they feel like.

I have no rejection toward them, and I do not feel negative at all toward what they say. But I wonder, does anyone in RF know someone who identifies as Otherkin or maybe is of Otherkin themselves?

Too much focus on self labeling these days, in my opinion. If we'll just be human to each other all those other differences will not be a problem for anyone.

In my experience, you often see talk about this in the New Age community - in conversations that actually go deeper than surface level. One example is people feeling they don't fit in and talk of circumstantial evidence that could lead to, they think, the universe trying to point out that they're a star seed, whether it's a Lemurian star seed or some other kind of star seed.

Sometimes these people believe that the human race was visited by aliens in the distant past, and they also don't feel of this world - so trying to become in tune with what they think are distant alien races, can for some reason give them a sense of purpose or make them feel what they see as "at home".

Don't know much about them. But I know it tends to be more of a spiritual connection and thing then them literally thinking they are that animal if I recall correctly.

People are different, and there is probably a cause behind why some feel drawing to the Otherkin way of living, Not sure one should condemn them because they are different :)

No, but I read awhile back about a theory of where vampirism came from though I don't know if they have another name.

vampire in medical perspective: myth or malady?

The association between vampirism and porphyria is probably the most famous one. Porphyria refers to a group of disorders characterized by a defect in one of the enzymes involved in the synthesis of heme. As a consequence, accumulation of porphyrins (toxic heme precursors) occurs in various organs, depending on the specific subtype.3 Although porphyria cutanea tarda and acute intermittent porphyria are the most common forms, it is congenital erythropoietic porphyria that is in particular associated with vampirism.1 This autosomal recessive disorder, also known as Günther’s disease, is characterized by pronounced photosensitivity and chronic hemolytic anemia.

The human brain is complex, and there can be many anomalies. I suspect the feeing of being 'outside' the status quo could be a symptom of such an anomaly.

It Aint Necessarily So

This reminds me of other examples of people wanting to identify with something other than mainstream human beings, like the goth people, or the one who get implants, piercings, and tattoos to make themselves look like non-human animals:

This is what happens when we allow those odd anomalies in our brains to control us, instead of us controlling them. Not everything we think or feel needs to be made 'real'.

'Feelings are not facts', as they say in AA.
