Sorry, @JustGeorge, but I preach for Salix's entertainment!

Allow me to explain.

As we all know, Salix is Brahman. Looking at myself from a qualified monistic (viśiṣṭādvaita) perspective, I am not Brahman in the way he is, rather, I am like an eternal wave on the ocean that is Brahman. Grace is required in order to realize Brahman and achieve liberation from the cycle of transmigration. In the mārga or yogic path that I follow, that grace is won by entertaining Brahman. The best way to entertain him is by preaching.

Now that I've gotten that explanation taken care of, everybody, hear ye, hear ye...

This is the profoundest message. The wise call it truth. The truthful recognize it as wisdom. One guy might be banned from RF. Some people may lose interest in RF. But, Salix will never disappear from RF. This is because he is the image of eternity. One who knows this truth, this wisdom, has no fear. Come, seekers, and align yourselves with it in thought, word, and action.

Well, someone has to do it, I suppose. :)

Hmmm, ... do you really expect an honest answer?

People who think they know "the truth" well enough to preach it at others are already lying to themselves. Just saying. :)

Answer the poll. Then explain why.

Some feel that their religion insists that they recruit new members and spread the word of God. So they go door to door and argue about religion. Or, they spread their messages about religion.

Some want to rule the world, so they vote in great numbers and elect presidents. Those presidents, in turn, appoint Supreme Court judges who rule until they die. Clarence Thomas was chosen by the Religious Right president because longevity ran in his family. He could spend his long lifetime making decisions about abortion, taxing the poor to pay for the rich, etc. Arnold Schwarzenegger, voted in by the Religious Right, was voted in with fraudulent ballots (vote to save the environment....you are really voting for Schwarzenegger). Wars, torture camps, and loose gun laws quickly followed the election of Religious Right candidates.

So, I would say that preaching to others is about gaining political control.

It is also about gaining control over individuals. Some preachers even go as far as to say that their followers are like sheep, and will believe anything that they say. So, they can lie and lie and lie and alter their sense of reality (case in point....many theists don't understand the dangers of Global Warming, and they continue to lie about it). But, they think that they are lying for Jesus, so they think that they will be forgiven.

Why? Is it to hide that you have no life, or was it to hide that you're here to entertain Salix?
I try to take every opportunity I see to irritate @SalixIncendium - I think he gets some perverse pleasure from it; although disappointingly I saw that it was by far the most popular option.

edit: I just changed my vote to the no life option because nobody had voted for that. I think that is my best chance of annoying him, given the circumstances.

I'm a big believer in the saying "preach the gospel always; use words if necessary." We can let our attitudes and behavior toward others speak the gospel for us. No need to verbally preach at anyone.

And I like turtles.

So...what was the result of your diabolical plan?

Am I irritated? I can never tell...
