Where has Socialism gone?

Just think that free single-payer healthcare exists only in Britain, Scandinavia, Spain, Italy and Portugal. As for Europe.

I can give you an example. This is the article of the Constitution that regulates entrepreneurship.

Art 41 Italian Constitution
"Private economic enterprise is free.
It may not be carried out against the common good or in such a manner that could damage safety, liberty and human dignity.
The law shall provide for appropriate programs and controls so that the public and private-sector economic activity may be oriented and coordinated for social purposes."

There are much more "socialist" articles than this.
It is also a matter of culture. I was brought up to believe that the State is a supreme and spiritual entity, that represents the common good.
And the private citizen cannot but be loyal to the public interest.

I tend to agree, and there even many other Americans who might agree with it in theory, yet they might have different perceptions of what is the "common good."

Sometimes, there are people here in Arizona who speak of the political and economic authority exerted from a far away place "back east," who decide what the common good is for Arizona. Yet many believe they can't possibly know what's in our best interests, since they don't live here.
