Hell no, you America should speak foreign when you are in a foreign country. Just like they should when they visit an English speaking country..

Yeah, well. Norwegians I guess are just more courteous..... They all spoke english..... in some cases better than people who live in America..... I guess Norwegians are just nicer

There are quite a lot of french who speak 2 or 3 languages. However they won't entertain arrogance like "why can't these Frenchies speak English like civilized people" or worse, believing that shouting in English is the way to make them understand.

When we had a french teacher he could speak 17 languages.

Well that's silly.... and we have been down this road before...shouting in ones native language to be understood, at one who does not speak it, is not the sole property of Americans

Shouting at someone who has a hard time hearing is also futile. My father-in-law appreciated those who spoke slowly and with clear articulation because then he could understand.

The Germans and Scots aren't shouting, it's just how they talk.

It's how I talk as well. During my working days, I was asked to speak quieter. My acting teacher was really happy that I naturally projected my voice.

That taught me that whatever I was and whatever I did, some would like it and some would not.
