What originally made me very conservative was seeing how much the errors of Communism spread throughout the world and killed over 15 times as many people as the Holocaust, and how they kinda got a slap on the wrist for it.

Communists tend to flock behind liberal politicians and fund them. So do Hedonists , those who detest self-discipline, live for pleasure, live for materialism.

Now there is plenty of hedonism among conservatives, but most, practically all severe hedonists that I have met personally were very liberal. Most people I have met who are most opposed to Hedonism and most in favor of sacrifice, discipline, and austerity, are conservative.

Granted I live in a very liberal state and city.

I can't stand political correctness sometimes, but I believe we must treat all people with compassion and have met plenty liberals and people of all ethnic backgrounds, religious backgrounds, and sexuality who have helped me when I was poor, homeless, and needed a friend , or housing , or spare change. So, out of love for them, I feel guilty being a conservative, because I don't like how many conservatives behave!

I reject racism and all forms of hate. I believe people who hurt other people are usually hurting themselves, and I was once miserable and wanted everyone to be miserable like me. So I try to love my enemies. We should hate no one.

I pray to and enshrine even Muslims , but am very quick to point out calls to hate and bigotry in the Quran as well as the Bible. I'd say I tend more towards being conservative regarding immigration, as I have studied some of the ways immigration has damaged certain neighborhoods, and I have enshrined some of the girls that were violently raped and murdered by immigrants. In certain cultures it is okay to harm women who dress the way Western women dress, and we need to be careful not to invite people that hate our culture , into our culture.

But we should love people as well. Sometimes the loving thing to do is not to invite someone into your household who will harm your children, you, and wife, and destroy the home.

Regarding abortion, I think it is a human being being killed. However, sometimes, if the family is very broken, to let the unborn baby be born, means a lifetime of torture for the child, and it just dies tragically anyway, and according to Christians and Muslims, goes to Hell.

I said elsewhere that I would not discuss one of the liberal topics elsewhere, and I'm going to be a man of my word.

I think Socialism should not be robbing people from incentives to work harder for financial gain. I feel the rich should help the poor, but the government should not steal from those who work harder, so bums like myself gobble up more tax payers dollars for doing nothing.

So far, do I seem liberal or conservative?

Liberal and conservative are not opposites on the same gradient.
The opposite to conservative is progressive, the opposite to liberal is authoritarian.

I think there's more to the terms 'liberal' and 'conservative' than what our corrupt political parties would have us believe.

I voted you seem more conservative, but I mean that in you seem to have a conservative worldview/lifestyle, not that I associate you with any political movement.

You seem conservative I guess.

If being a conservative involves contemning other ethnic groups, religions, and sexual orientations, then you are not a conservative. The question is, Does being a conservative necessitate doing so?

I reject racism and all forms of hate.

Very nice. Theoretically, racism can be enforced from the top to the bottom in a society that is either liberal or conservative.

In certain cultures it is okay to harm women who dress the way Western women dress, and we need to be careful not to invite people that hate our culture , into our culture.

That would be a conservative policy. Perhaps cultural conservatism might be your thing? Also, could a follower of Shinto be a cultural conservative in America? If American culture is one where individuals can practice whatever religion they choose, I don't see why not.

Regarding abortion, I think it is a human being being killed.

There are traditional religions that do not favor abortion, and there are traditional religions that are not necessarily against abortion. If subscribing to a traditional religion is something a conservative is likely to do, is there then one uniform view that conservatives must have on abortion?

I said elsewhere that I would not discuss one of the liberal topics elsewhere, and I'm going to be a man of my word.

Regardless of what kind of topic is might be, I commend you for being a man of your word. In my own experience, being a man of my word makes me careful with my words.

I think Socialism should not be robbing people from incentives to work harder for financial gain.

Is it socialism or handouts that does this?

I feel the rich should help the poor, but the government should not steal from those who work harder, so bums like myself gobble up more tax payers dollars for doing nothing.

So far, do I seem liberal or conservative?

I would say more conservative than liberal so far. As you work on figuring it out, consider looking into what conservatism is and what liberalism is. As well, check out the different schools of both of them. Interestingly, there is also conservative liberalism and liberal conservatism. From what I understand, conservative liberalism is liberal policy with a conservative outlook, and liberal conservatism is conservative policy with a liberal outlook. Lastly, figuring out what you should identify as politically should not be rushed. It's been years for me and I am still not sure because I hardly think about political issues. I just know that I have favored social capitalism for several years so far.

Anti-Communism is common to both Liberals and Conservatives in the US. Woodrow Wilson presided over the first red scare in the 1920s; Truman led the start of the Cold War and the Korean war whilst McCarthyism was raging; Kennedy won the 1960 election by accusing Nixon of being soft on Communism, gave the go ahead for the Bay of Pigs invaion of Cuba, then blockaded the country in the Cuban missile crisis; Johnson was fighting the Vietnam war. etc.

So Anti-Communism isn't unique to Conservatives and doesn't rule out you being a Liberal. :)

In my view you care to much about others and little about self which is more a liberal trait.

That's talking of conservative/liberal on my side of the Atlantic, on your side although conservatisy is similar, liberal has little bearing on the meaning of European liberal. Basically they are too similar to call

My apologies, but I think that many of your definitions are stereotypical and limited.
Socialism; is not robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, nor is it a disincentive to work hard. The US military, all fire departments, all police departments, and public schools, as well as the roads, rail, airports and libraries are all socialism. And there’s more.
As stated above, neither conservatives or liberals want communism or even a socialist state.
Liberals believe in self control and self-governance, which is why they want conservative governments out of their bedrooms, their medical choices, and their love lives. Conservatives seem to think that individual choice is dangerous and therefore must be controlled by laws and angry mobs.
And while immigrants, both legal and illegal are generally more informed and more willing to help in any situation (when not terrified of getting ID’d), the news tends to show them as more of a plague. :(

Based upon what I’ve seen you write over the years here in these forums, I would estimate that you tend to be more of a progressive than a conservative. I also believe that if you wish to delve into political matters more, then you should broaden and deepen your information sources.

Best of luck @Spiderman . ;)

Extremely conservative. That person will vote Trump or McConnell every time, even if Trump or McConnell don't personally oppose pro-choice.

Mississippi is the most progressive state, currently. We are making rapid progress towards average mediumness.

I don't know if its the loving thing to do, but its what most people do. Some people do invite just anyone in. Its an increasingly rare person.

Sounds somewhat conservative to me.

I'd also maybe urge you to do more research on immigration -- as that view is painting a very broad brush (and most economic studies on immigration declare it to be a net benefit to the native population) and is very harmful in pushing negative images of immigrants (which 9.9 times out of ten are just people who are trying to provide a better lives for themselves and their families)

Didn't answer. Depends on what subject matter. Liberal in some areas and conservative in others?

I disagree. Publically funding something is not socialism. A socialist economy is one where the means of production are owned either by the state or the public. Fire departments and libraries, for instance, are not means of production, rather, they are services. The equipment used for making fire trucks and books, on the other hand, are means of production.

Very confused, but not surprising, because the Amarican view of liberal, socialist and conservative is confused anyway.

In the UK calling our conservatives the "nasty party" sums it up very well.

In reality they never have been good for the working man at any level. Their leaders control the money and the system, to their own benefit alone.

From what I’m observing with Liberal vs Conservative and my opinion concerning free speech and sexual preferences is that conservatives will fight for your freedom of speech and not censor your voice just because it is different or opposed and liberals will censor and cancel free speech that doesn’t agree with theirs. As far as sexual preferences and “in the bedroom”. Conservatives don’t care much what your sexual preference is until it is brought out in the public and forced on everyone for example men allowed in women’s public restrooms, Men participating in women’s sports, abortion because it involves killing a human being, teaching this type of sexual practice in schools etc. Conservatives believe in individual responsibility and limited government intervention. Conservatives believe in individual liberty and justice for all, Liberals on the other hand have shown to have a dual justice system ex. George Floyd vs Ashli Babbitt situation and others, media has also been involved in this for example Joe Biden vs how Donald Trump was reported on.

I would rather have the freedom to trade my labor
for a wage, take risks and get the rewards for my labor and risk. Anyone in the US, for the moment can start a business and be an entrepreneur, actually everyone should have this mentality whether you are employed by someone or not.

Have you done that?

How's it worked out for you?

Also, how is it "freedom" to trade your labor for a wage when that is basically the only option you have?
