Are there any popular movies or shows that offer an accurate view of religion?

Ken, here it is on YouTube:

The acting is top-shelf, and to me is was an emotional roller-coaster that really got to me but in a good way.

None really, I don't know enough about many of them. I just wonder why folks are so obsessed with the Greek and the heretic nutcase.
I am reminded of this quote from Jasper Fforde's The Last Dragonslayer:

"‘It’s a PR thing,’ said the Dragon, half to itself.

‘Sorry?’

‘It’s a public relations thing,’ he said again, opening his eyes and staring at me. ‘Why do people spend millions trying to save dolphins, yet eat tuna by the bucketful Isn’t that what you were thinking of?’

‘You can read my thoughts?’

‘Only when someone feels passionately about something. Ordinary thoughts are pretty dull. Powerful ideas have a life of their own, they carry on, unshakeable, from person to person. Wouldn’t you agree?’

He didn’t wait for an answer, but carried on. ‘Elephants, gorillas, Buzonjis, dolphins, snowleopards, Shridloos, tigers, lions, cheetahs, whales, seals, manatees, orang-utans, pandas -what have all these got in common?’

‘They’re all endangered.’

‘Apart from that.’

‘They’re all pretty big?’ I hazarded.

‘They’re all mammals,’ said Maltcassion contemptuously. ‘You seem to be making this planet into an exclusive mammals-only club. If seal cubs were as ugly as the average reptile, I wonder if you’d bother with them at all. But those big eyes and the cute barking and the soft fur, well, they just melt your little mammalian heart, don’t they?’

‘There are other non-mammals that are protected,’ I argued, but Maltcassion wasn’t impressed.

‘Window dressing, nothing more. No one much cares about the reptiles, bugs or fishes, unless, of course, they look nice. Seems a pretty crummy method of selecting species for survival, doesn’t it to you? If you want to redress your overtly mammal supremacist attitudes, I should ban the words “cuddly”, “cute” and “fluffy”, for a start.’"
I suppose Westerners simply like the "enlightened" "Western" Pharaoh and the sorta-monotheist.

Ματαιοδοξία ματαιοδοξιών! Όλα είναι ματαιοδοξία.
In this case it is a broadway show “Shtisel”. A major theme in “Shtisel” is Shalom Bayit, peace in the house between husband and wife. How do two individual humans, with differing dreams and passions, come together to build one harmonious whole? In the world of the ultra-orthodox, the solution lies in sacrifice.

What other popular movies may reflect at least the least wrong way to depict a religion?

I absolutely loved the series Shtisel. I really hope they make another season!

I have never found a single movie of that nature.

I'm unclear about what you are asking for. You want shows that misrepresent religion or shows that represent it correctly?

Those that offer an insight into a religion through its storyline, could be positive or negative; 'Not Without My Daughter' certainly presents a negative view.

Oh, another one I really loved was the Jesus of Nazareth tv series.

There were many 'Jesus of Nazareth' movies, one was better than most, as the 'heavenly voices' were 'silent' only heard by the recipient, as with Mary and the announcement by the Angel., Mary cried out in pain at Jesus' birth etc. One of the few which portrayed the humanity we all share.

This was and is by far my favorite: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_of_Nazareth_(TV_series) Robert Powell as Jesus did a marvelous job, imo.

Also, my favorite Christian theologian, the late William Barclay [Anglican], did a great job, imo, and I have read so many of his books.

Most marriages end in divorce (not harmonious living).

Trivia you may or may not know... Robert Powell never blinked when looking into the camera.

My favorite was "Shogun", btw.

We had a neighbor who was into martial arts and his black belt rank was Shogun. I remember the story only because I had asked him what his dog's name was and he explained why he named him 'shogun'. I think the series is available on Amazon prime, used to be on Netflix.
