The Lord of this family (which are God's Name) - Surah Quraysh

One way to read "basmallah..." is that it's just a reminder and formality of the importance of God's Name. Another is to recite as part of the Quran and phrases that follows.

If we take the latter view, Surah Quraysh would take on a different meaning then being connected to the Surah before. That is most commentaries, take it to mean "for... (what happened in the previous Surah...) is for unity of Quraysh...."

But if we take it that it's an independent Surah, and that basmallah is part of the phrase, it can be saying

By the name of God the Compassionate (universally), the Compassionate (extensively) - for the unity of Quraysh: is their unity in their traveling in the winter and summer (ie. takes place by the name of God). So let them worship the Lord of this family/house. The one who fed them so they are not in hunger and gave them security from fear.


"this" can be referring to something said in the Surah as opposed to being linked to the story of Surah before and being seen as referring to the house as in the physical Kaba implicitly talked about (though not directly mentioned). In this case, the name of God and house can be interchangeable and it referring to the family of Mohammad (s).

And this would mean that unity occurs through name of God which Ahlulbayt (a) are the current ones holding that station among God's creation.

The other thing is that Quraysh is not really a name of tribe linked by blood but was a position that included many tribes and is a description of duty of guarding the Kaba. In this case, the true Quraysh Quran has described to be the God-fearing..."And no is it's protectors in reality but the guarding ones (mutaqeen ie. who fear God)...". This meaning that it's Mutaqeen can be seen in some Sufi interpretations like Tasfir Ibn Arabi.

In this case, the true protectors of Kaba are those Mutaqeen (God-fearing and guarding ones against God's wrath and displeasure) who are united by the name of God which is the true house/family, and the purpose of the Kaba is to come to the leader of the time just as people came to Ibrahim (a) who was the Imam of that time when Quran says "...their will come to you..." to Ibrahim (a).

I was going to write a long response with many verses, but I'm going to say things shortly instead.

A name is a word, but God's word is said to be chosen ones like Jesus (a). They are the word that emanates from him and the descent of the name is such that it is God's face. Samuel means name of God for example in Hebrew. They are the images/faces of God.

God's word that represents him is also the Quran. The Quran is a light, that light is inside the heart of the Prophet (s) and soul of the Prophet (s) at the highest reality. It's God complete word, and the chosen ones are God's complete words.

God says he is the light of the heavens of the earth and one of things he describes the light to be is a blessed tree, the same is said about the pure word from him, which is than said to be the firm making word by which God makes believers firm in this world and the next.

Pure word and pure tree was Mohammad (s) in his time, and when God declares pure a people, they are an authority and represent him because they are holy. Yahya (a) being said to be pure offspring in other places is paraphrased to being a chosen Master.

The leader is the name of God and so is Ahlulbayt (a) who are with the leader of the time and stars/lights of heaven, and the guidance of God which leads back to God and the light of God connected to this world, is Ahlulbayt (a) and that is the name of God.

you claimed there is a name for god. in the hebrew bible it is a literal name. it is found at exodus 3:14. i realize a lot of religions have names for god but this was singular. so honestly there isn't a God's Name in islam, or you simply don't know it?

God's Titles, some of them are equivalent, for example "Greatest, Highest, God" are meaningfully equivalent, Greatest includes all attributes that "Highest" includes and vice versa, same with "the God" "Allah". God is not going to choose a title among all titles, they are all important.

But when we remember God through a title, the way the title applies to him in it's balanced place and proper place, is through God's light. God's light is his direction/path and face by which we turn to him. That is equivalent to the Quran and Ahlulbayt (a) who are the rope of God and his path.

The word of truth and great tiding, is Ahlulbayt (a). They are the name of God.

I know you are use to name of God as a title chosen among titles, but that to me is not true, and we can't know God by a title. We know him through his living word which Jesus (a) emphasized himself to be and to be God's light in the world so long as he was in this world.

Another important thing to know about the name of God per Quran, is that it is a way to take refuge in God from dark magic and evil of his creation. A title as in a spoken word is not going to protect you. Is God's light that protects believers and Quran talked about the stars/lanterns/lights/flame guards that are in the heaven connected to this world and are missiles against Satanic forces.

This is one reason it's very important to understand the living word of God and the living reminder of God which Mohammad (s) is to be an instance.

"...o you who believe - fear God for we have revealed you a reminder. A messenger who recites to you God's signs..." and "until there came to them the clear proof. A Messenger from God..."

Al-Hayu (The Living) is emphasized in Quran, it has a lot of importance, but again, we don't recognize who and what God is through words, words are rather ways we remember what we know about God. However, the living words of God such as Samuel and Jesus are ways to come to God and know who he is and what he is, and they are his reminder.
