The theory of devolution.

Another perhaps pointless observation of mine :)
I would like to talk about the theory of devolution. This theory is a product of Biblical literalism as well as young Earth creationism.
(This of course is my own understanding, from my literalist YEC perspective)
Mankind and all of material existence came to being some 6000 years ago. The environment was perfect, a literal heaven. Humans and animals alike were perfect forms, at the peak of their evolutionary potential. That is because their environment was perfect, so they were perfect.
Sin is introduced, and the environment is greatly deteriorated. The deterioration of the environment from a heavenly state to a earthly state had immediate effects on all species. Before, they were to live forever. Now they could die.
Genesis 5 records the descendants of Abraham to Noah. All of the men have extremely long lives, some of them hundreds of years. Genesis 11 records the descendants from Noah to Abraham. In this listing, there is a steady decline in lifespan recorded.
In Genesis 5, the youngest age someone entered fatherhood was Enoch at the age of 65. Generally, the rest of the listing records the men having kids when they were over a hundred years old. Noah himself was over 500 when he had his kids.
In Genesis 11, as the lifespan decreases, the age in which the fathers have their children becomes increasingly younger. We find proof that old age birth was outside the norm by Abrahams time. This proof comes in the form of Sarah laughing at God when God informed Abraham that they were going to have kids (she was nearing 100). Abraham died at 175.
We know the environment changed drastically between these two listings. There was the flood in between.
In Genesis 6:3, God says that man would not live past 120 years. It’s in this passage that God’s decision to flood the earth is recorded.
By the time we get to Moses, he dies at the ripe old age of 120. And I believe that the Bible doesn’t record living past 120 after Moses.
So mankind has been systematically devolving since creation essentially. What causes devolution, according to the Bible? Sin. Sinning has a physical effect. It has an evolutionary effect on our species.
Why does it matter? For me, this observation has affected my philosophy on life. If it is possible to devolve our species through collective immorality, then it should be possible to evolve our species through collective morality. And we are still in ever present danger of continually deteriorating through this devolution. I believe the rapture cannot happen until we reverse this evolutionary process. I believe that is in fact what the rapture is. So, it is the purpose of every man to ponder how they could do their part to help foster the rapture through their own thoughts and actions. Failure to do so may result in further deterioration of our species. I believe if we become devolved enough, (resulting from collective immorality), an event paralleling Noah’s flood will happen. So lies the choice of mankind: to evolve, and bring heaven on earth, or to continue to devolve, and bring about our own annihilation.
Bit of a jump?
I could talk about how I think statism is key in continually devolving our species, and anarchism is a way forward to evolve. Then that could segue into how technology is superficially propping us up, giving the appearance of forward progress, when in reality technology serves to devolve us as well. But those would be tangents that would require more typing and more thinking.
Anyways, thanks for listening to my ramble.

Good for you believeing in this when evidence shoots it down. Life’s short. Continue dreaming.

It is not a scientific theory. It is a belief. Evolution only goes in one direction driven by the environment acting on the heritable variation of the genes. There is no devolution in biology.

Ow, so you are just preaching your demonstrably false religious beliefs and try to pretend that it's "just as good" an explanation as an actual scientific theory?

Maybe you should read up a bit concerning biology and stuff.

A problem with this claim: people have lived beyond 120 years recently.

In particular, Jeanne Calment was verified to be 122 when she died:

I believe Abraham was recorded in the Bible to live to over 170 after genesis 6:3, after the flood. So much for literalism. Also who did Cain marry away from his family? No, the universe is ancient, there was no original sin, there was no perfect golden time. The story of Adam and Eve is a symbolic story, not a history. Genesis is not history. There was no worldwide flood, there is no scientific evidence for that.

What does it mean to say that animals were "perfect, at the peak of their evolutionary potential"? If a perfect lion, at the peak of its potential to bring down prey, chases after a perfect antelope, at the peak of its potential to escape predators, what happens?
