We jokes about turtles all the way down. But, sadly, it's lunacy all the way down which will cause many deaths. And along with it are threats and attacks on medical professionals

'Vigilante treatments': Anti-vaccine groups push people to leave ICUs

Those concerns echo various local reports about growing threats and violence directed toward medical professionals. In Branson, Missouri, a medical center recently introduced panic buttons on employee badges because of a spike in assaults. Violence and threats against medical professionals have recently been reported in Massachusetts, Texas, Georgia and Idaho.
...
Some people in groups that formed recently to promote the false cure ivermectin, an anti-parasite treatment, have claimed extracting Covid patients from hospitals is pivotal so that they can self-medicate at home with ivermectin. But as the patients begin to realize that ivermectin by itself is not effective, the groups have begun recommending a series of increasingly hazardous at-home treatments, such as gargling with iodine, and nebulizing and inhaling hydrogen peroxide, calling it part of a “protocol.”
...
Ely said one particular patient who had been misinformed stuck with him. The woman who had Covid arrived in his ICU about five months pregnant. Ely said the woman was not vaccinated and refused any treatments that would help fight the virus.

“Why? Because, to her, it’s not real,” he said. “So now we’re dealing with a woman in the ICU, the baby too young to live. We’ve got to make it several more weeks for the baby to be viable.”
...
ome of those who refuse the vaccine “just keep denying until they’re dying.”

It seems more and more to me that the conflict is irreconcilable. In such situations it is often the only solution to separate the parties and let each do as they want. Seal of an area (proportional to the percentage of the population) for Covid deniers and anti-vaxxers and maskers; let them have their freedom to kill themselves. Or, if they do well learn from them.

It's harsh but I think it's the best way to go.

It's gotten to the point now that one group sees another group as being a threat far greater than the virus is. Both ways.

Leave them alone and let people make their own choices for themselves.

Otherwise its going to get far worse than what the virus itself can ever do.

From what I have read it is the anti-vaxxers who are causing the crises at so many hospitals, to the point of many being triaged and simply left to hospice care. No more room in icu for heart attack victims and the like, they're being turned away or sent to hospitals sometimes miles away and don't receive emergency care until its too late. These anti-vaxxers come now begging tor the vaccine which of course would do them no good. They should stay away and find they're own place to die. I do understand having a real fear of the vaccine, so at least practice all the masking etc. But those making some political statement, I have absolutely no charity.

I think this is safely the kind of thing covered by Steven King apologising to everyone for feeling like we are all trapped in one of his novels. That's really disturbing stuff.

Leave them alone and let people make their own choices for themselves.

Their choices affect my life. So my choice is to affect their lives. Their choice is to attack doctors and nurses. My choice is to lock them up for a long time. Their choice is to spread lies. My choice is to call their lies what they are: lies. Their choice is to attack people like me for wearing masks. My choice is to fight back against their crimes.

Don't like my choices? Tough.

Yep, it sure is tough.

That's why nobody is going to ever win the day.

That's where the saying two wrongs don't make a right come into play. That and the cliche be the change you want to see.
I act partisan to show the partisanship at its very best.

I want people to retain their personal freedom and choices while being educated at the same time without having to endure petty shaming tactics and pushyness that comes from sanctimonious do gooders and those ignorant of valid working remedies.

In context that reads like I should allow people to beat me up without defending myself because beating back is also a wrong.. Actions have affects on other people and I'm entitled to respond to the impact others have on me.

And now the lunatic fringe is getting even worse - pretty soon they'll be attacking all mandatory vaccinations and who knows what else.

Those who refuse to admit that rights have responsibilities associated with them should have external consequences if they can't accept the responsibilities that come from living in a society.

This reminds me of a Monty Python sketch where dynamite was used to cure the common cold. When citing his statistics the last one was "Seven missing, presumed cured."

I was referring to the "lock them up."

But, no. But I read this a couple of times and the other post a couple of times. There's a technical term I came across when people take on other people's sufferings as a group and it affects them as if they actually went through the suffering itself. So, there's no direct correlation (someone actually beating you up?) but more empathy, for lack of better words.

The Fact of the matter is not everyone is "beating you up" for being unvaccinated. Not everyone is spreading the disease and not everyone is careless and antivax or whatever terms media wants people to use to cause a fuss.

Instead, evaluate it from a fact-based not emotions. Who is actually beating you up? (I don't know since I am not there)

NOW that's not a problem if you don't harm yourself and harm others, but that's not the case here. Locking people up is an action that affects other people. People lose their jobs, their family, and their sanity over this, um, stuff and provaxers AND antivaxers (those who stick out) aren't making it any better.

I mean realistically speaking, once you lock up everyone who beat you up and others, then what? Do you think the Delta is just going to disappear because people provaxxers are more angry at the decisions people make and not the context and person to which and whom those decisions were made?

It kinda reflects my feelings about the wanton destruction of people's places of business and livelihoods for the sake of stopping Covid.

So, should Washington state close its hospitals to Idaho COVID patients?

Idaho COVID-19 patients are ‘clogging up my hospitals,’ Washington governor says

Idaho is a very conservative state, but there seems to be a growing political faction there between the more common-sense conservatives like Gov. Little and the whacked-out radical conspiracy-theorist conservative politicians there. He's been getting heat from both the whacked-out radical conservatives and the liberal governor Inslee of Washington state.

I don't want to see common-sense conservatives destroyed, which looks like what might happen if we abandon them to the loony radicals.

It's a completely different situation. If Idaho were a Covidiots only reservation then they should have their own hospitals with some voodoo doctors.

That's exactly what I'm afraid might happen: the common sense conservatives will get voted out by the loony radicals for not installing voo-doo doctors there.

They should be able to close their doors to the willing unvaccinated.

That's been going on for awhile. Today's Reps would chastise Reagan as socialist who wants to destroy America. Nixon would have been Stalinist commie.
