One thing i'd like to ask Sikhs in particular, is whether it's fair to compare Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and the Khalistan movement to Osama bin Laden/ Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi and ISIS.
The majority of Sikhs support Bhindranwale but the majority of Muslims condemn Al Qaeda and ISIS.
Bhindranwale never ordered the killing of innocent people. There was terrorism in Punjab in the 80s and 90s including the infamous stories of Sikhs stopping buses and shooting people without a turban but how can we be sure they weren't Pakistani Muslims in disguise? The only casualties confirmed to be caused by Sikhs was the 1985 Air India flight 182 bombing and that was 1 year after Bhindranwale was killed. Yet bin Laden funded the 1997 Luxor Massacre and the 1998 attack on American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. He even attempted to get Bill Clinton killed when Clinton was still President and visited the Phillipines. Obviously 9/11 too.
Bhindranwale never wanted Khalistan; he said that "if Harmandir Sahib is attacked the foundation for Khalistan will be laid". The Indian government wanted to attack the Golden Temple since 1982; over a year before Bhindranwale ever took refuge in Akal Takht. Al Qaeda wants to cleanse the world of what it sees as sinful people and ISIS wants its own country.
A Sikh Gurdwara is open to all religions as is the langar. I have seen many Mosques that say "Muslims only"
