What is your favourite movie

I like campy movies. If they appeal to you as well, consider The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, Harold and Maude, Freaks, Rocky Horror, A Serious Man, Being There, Being John Malkovich, and Ed Wood.

I also recommend philosophical movies like Groundhog Day (what if you could relive and correct your mistakes?), Total Recall (how can we decide which apparent reality is real?), Regarding Henry (how mental retardation helped a man become a better man and father), Charlie (the insight gleaned by a retarded man made temporarily normal).

Also, the best comedy: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Producers, most Python movies.

Here's two con men hustling a woman to whom one has proposed now trying to convince her that she might not like living in this household. I can't stop laughing whenever I see Steve Martin as Ruprecht the Monkey Boy. Maybe this would be a good choice for you:

Best wishes for surgery.

I had forgotten about Being There. Thinks for the reminder; it's been a long while since I've seen it. I'm going to the library today just to see if they have it.

Do you happen to remember the Cohen Bros. comedy with Tom Hanks and his criminal gang tunneling into a bank vault or something from the basement of a black lady's basement? That one was a good one, too. O Brother is my favorite of theirs so far.

Yes, that's it. It's one of their earlier ones, I believe; they hit their stride later on.
Nah....I think they just have some ups & downs.
Blood Simple, Fargo, O Brother, Where Art Thou, & The
Hudsucker Proxy were earlier, yet among their best work.

BTW, I don't expect writers & directors to be perfect.
The occasional clinker can be forgiven, so long as there's
greatness now & then.

More favorites, this time from Tim Burton....
- Big Fish (2003)
- Beetlejuice (1988)
- Batman (1989) <--- The ultimate Batman score
- Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) <--- Best Halloween and Xmas movie
- Edward Scissorhands (1990)
- Mars Attacks! <--- Danny Elfman apes Bernard Herrmann with a theremin based score
- Pee Wee's Big Adventure <--- Mentioned twice cuz it should be.

I'm not a movie fanatic, i watch very few movies really.

However, tomorrow i go into hospital for a few hours and envision being bored out of my skull. My idea is to buy a movie to download to my phone and maybe spend a couple of hours passing the time by watching it.

Please, would you be kind enough to name your all time favourite recommendation.

It's a toss-up between Castaway and A Beautiful Mind. Truly spectacular films, IMHO.
