Linux starting to become a better gaming platform

Just in time for Valve's new handheld to launch in the coming months, Linux is starting to be able to run many more Windows games and become easier and more mature in its process, via Steam:

What Windows PC games run with Proton on Linux? | Windows Central

I have tested out Proton and Steam Play, what is used to run Windows games on x86 32-bit and 64-bit Linux systems via Steam. My Windows library runs reasonably well, with some more problematic games requiring fixes which take up to an hour of tinkering and downloading additional files before they will properly play. However, I'd say it's still not "beginner-ready" yet, with some games requiring novice computer skills to get working. That being said, the scene is better than it was 5 years ago, when it took someone with advanced skills just to get some games working.

As for performance and framerates, it's roughly the same on Proton/Steam Play on a Linux system, as it is running a game natively on a Windows system. It's pretty amazing, really. It's like they've achieved magic in the software and drivers, now.
