Winning with a wonderful collection of items from the farmer's market: grapes, pears, apples, tomatoes, chocolate chip cookies, artisanal chocolate and more.

I've heard the farmers have a huge celebration during the great California Chocolate Chip Cookie Harvest.

I've heard the farmers have a huge celebration during the great California Chocolate Chip Cookie Harvest.

It's held in special locations during the summer where the heat is intense enough so that no ovens are needed. People line up for miles and miles to stuff cookies hot from the heavenly oven, cookie manna from heaven, into their mouths and bless the goddess of chocolate, IXCACAO, from whom delectable blessing flow.

We will call her by her Mayan name, Ixcacao. (By the way, the suffix Ix- in a name makes it clear that it is the name of a female. It literally means "little one". So her name translates into English as "Cocoa Woman")

She featured in the creation myths of the Mayans, introducing agriculture to the people and helping insure the birth of the Sacred Twins. Initially, she was an earth goddess in a matriarchal society where tending the crops was woman's work.

Banishing hunger and providing for the safety and security of the people was her divine responsibility.

Though she seldom made a public appearance in the myths, Ixcacao, the Mayan Goddess of Chocolate, had been loved by the common folk as a compassionate goddess of abundance.

It makes me wonder, if the Catholic Church gave out chocolate chip cookies at Communion instead of those horrible tasteless wafers, would church attendance improve?

Hot out of the oven? And with milk, coffee or tea? People would sing hallelujah and hosanna.

Why thank you, i had to look up IXCACAO and she is the goddess of chocolate... I never knew a goddess of chocolate existed although it surely deserves a goddess.
