Ganesha Chaturthi this Thursday

Yeah, we have our Ganapati in the house (son bought the idol early because just before the date we don't get the right idol or price may be higher). But we would get to have a darshan and meet him only on Ganesh Chaturthi. Currently, he is under a veil and no one should peep in. Does anyone want a message to be conveyed to him? We can do that, no problem there.

Jaya Jagannatha!
I will celebrate, as Srivaishnavas honor Sri Ganesh. I will make sweet modak, salt modak, chickpea sundal, payasam, vada, and offer coconut water too, to the sweet lord.

Om gam ganapataye namah.

I have been having intuitive visions of Ganesha for a few days, and perhaps this may be the reason. I did not know Ganesh Chaturthi was up.

I remember reading an interesting article on the symbolism of Ganesha as remover of obstacles. Symbolically, the elephant headed Ganesha and his rat vehicle stand for intelligence and perseverance respectively.

Elephants are known for their intelligence, and rats are known for their perseverance in drilling holes almost everywhere. So when intelligence and perseverance comes together, all obstacles are dissolved.

Lord Ganesha, currently at Aup's place. Sri Ganeshaya Namah.

Modaka (Laddoo, in his hand), grass and yajnopavita (the sacred thread with six strands); the essentials for the Lord. Puja morning and evening. Food is first offered to the Lord.

OMG, did you notice, Vinayaka? Both his tusks are of the same size. That means the image is from a time before the writing down of Srimad Bhagawatham. He is Vighnavinashak, but he is not Ekadanta. O Sweet Lord, save my teeth. :surprise: :surprise:

I notice flowers. At the temple here we have so many marigolds. A new landscaper made it so, and there a lot of dahlias. He (and his parents and brother) received so many beautiful garlands. The monastery also livestreamed their abhishekham. Their site still has it up, and you can watch the video.
We skipped the main puja here tonight because of Covid and crowds, watched the video instead. We also made clay ones, and will do Visarjana on the 19th at the river.

Advantage (or whatever) of having tinnitus (for those who do not know, constant tingling in hearing, an old-age disease):

Now, my tinnitus picks up a phrase or song and then repeats it endlessly. Today it is repeating "Jay Ganesha, Jai Ganesha, Deva, Mata Jaki Parvati Pita Mahadeva" in the voice of a middle-aged male. .. To me, an avowed atheist!
Is the Lord trying to force me to be a theist?
:D

Mix sugar with rice and make it into a ball (size to your convenience). He and his mount, both, will like that - I know. :D
We do the same with all kinds of cereals. Make a tortilla, crush it, mix with sugar, ghee (butter in case ghee is not available), nuts and make it into a ball. We give that to elephants also, only that the ball is bigger.
That is the simplest kind of Modaka (Laddoo) that you can make. 'Modaka' means 'what delights the heart' (so to say).
