Oh! I'd be down for this. Sounds like fun. So, it seems to me that this would take place in historical earth, late classical middle east (which I have no knowledge of), but would include elements of fantasy and magic. Would this be high fantasy (with mages calling down hurricanes and lightning) or low fantasy (with much more subtle magic, like being able to change one's facial appearances for sneaky espionage purposes)?

If this is done over a thread, how would characters react to situations? I haven't done many RP games, but the ones I have done have always been around a table with pizza and a rule book with dice. How would this work?
Very low fantasy.

They react however the writer wants them to based on the character's personality.

@lewisnotmiller @Father Heathen @Meow Mix @RayofLight @Dan From Smithville and others who are interested, I've put together some rules. Feel free to make suggestions,

1. For now, 3 main characters per person to stop anything becoming too convoluted. That's not to say you have to have 3, but that this is a maximum.

2. Characters portraying a faith different from your own must be done respectfully and carefully. Religious conflicts and various insults lobbed at other religious folks must be clearly understood as being part of this fiction and not the actual views of the writer, but keeping appreciation for the time period and how people spoke casually, so a Christian calling a Pagan a 'damn idol worshipper' would be alright because it has a context.

3. Characters must have limits in strengths and powers.

4. Please stick as closely to the era (vaguely 7th century) as possible, but license for gaps in knowledge etc. is allowed, and nitpicks about history should be kept to a minimum unless it's a glaring error.

5. Be creative; set the scene, take your time. Have fun :)

Some minor other suggestions, from back when I used to RP in forums.
1) Don't take actions for other people's characters unless you've chatted with them about it.
2) Where possible, try and drive the overall narrative forwards, rather than just your characters interest.
3) No god-moding. Such characters are booooooring.

I thought this was a thread about discussing rocket propelled grenade launchers.

I understood one and two. You lost me at three.
