Shari'ah and Afghanistan

All history is interpretation. Each history book even by a scholar is interpretation.

All I'm trying to say is that there is nuance here that doesn't seem to be taken into account by those who just wish the whole thing never happened, and anything less than everyone praising the man and immediately changing their opinions and the RCC being welcoming (and his book was dedicated to a recieved by a Bishop, lest we forget) won't be satisfactory.

It just seems to be all or nothing with some people.

"Interpretation" seems like an honest misunderstanding. But, often, history is intentionally altered to save face. Japan, for example, taught its people that they were the innocent victims of aggression. They we so far as to ask China for an apology, when China coated them in a thick froth of reality.

I feel addressed. Then yes, it is all or nothing.

To make an example, you claimed Christianity entails that there is no difference between men and women. Because of some deeply sounding unity in Christ.

Let me ask you this: do those same Christians believe you can literally turn a wafer into the body of Christ if you do not have a penis?

You are losing your cool, for some reason. And I am not trolling. I am just asking for a binary answer from you, something that I would always give if challenged (although dunno is also an acceptable answer).

So, as a Christian, do you agree with the view that your sex is determined uniquely by your physical attributes?

Penis makes a man? Then how do you explain high pitched Gay basher, Jerry Falwell, who asserts that it is easy to switch genders (maybe for him)?

Yeah.

I just said that the RCC needs to deal with its paedophilia problem.

Yes. When you employ humans they will do things humans do. Literally no-one has ever denied this.

Young boys help them think. Maybe they should bring in some young boys to help them figure out this pedophilia issue?

What about Giordano Bruno? He got burned for believing there are other worlds.

Partially true, but not really accurate. You could believe or speculate there were other worlds, you just couldn't state it as fact.

While all this doesn't exactly paint the church in a much better light, stating that there were other worlds was one charge, but alongside numerous other 'more serious heresies' such as denying the divinity of Jesus, stating he was just a clever magician, denying Mary's virginity and other core points of Catholic doctrine.

There are a lot of contradictions, and a lot of things that don't make sense (Jonah eaten by a whale....there are not whales that size...and what would he breath?)
I don't see these contradictions. As for your example, it's clear from the text [Jonah 2:2] that Jonah was dead in the belly of the whale. It was his departed soul that called out to God. The word 'hell' in the KJV is translated from the Hebrew 'sheol', the grave.

I expect honesty, sincerity, straight forwardness and consistency.

I think I explained - lack of consistency with the Bible.
I, too, like honesty, sincerity, straight forwardness and consistency; so, maybe you would be kind enough to answer some of my questions about Islam and the Qur'an?

Do you believe that the Qur'an is God's revelation to Muhammad?

Did Muhammad accurately recite the Qur'an in Arabic just as it was revealed to him by the Angel Gabriel?

Is there only one true version of the Qur'an in Arabic?

If there is only one true version of the Qur'an, why do scholars find it so difficult to offer an interpretation that satisfies the worldwide brotherhood of Muslims? Surely Muhammad must have explained how to follow the law that God had revealed to him and to mankind?

What is the point of having only one true version of the Qur'an if there are a thousand interpretations?

IMO, the evidence of a scripture that is God-breathed. How can one tell it is inspired? Study it carefully. Ask yourself whether Jesus Christ is who he claimed to be.

IMO.
These are nice stories in a book. It has the same evidence as Pinocchio.

So, what evidence is that?

Well, we have already ascertained that this is the Christian view.

The implication of the OP is clear, you asked for Islam now you got it and you do not like it. The same could be said for any of the other Abrahamic religions if you take the religious the way the Taliban do.
Okay buddy. You fail to understand the inherent and many differences between the various Abrahamic religions and how they govern themselves. Not my problem.

Here is part of my collection of Jewish books; most of them are Torah commentaries,

I'm hardly failing to understand Judaism and how it's practiced. Thanks.

For those of you wondering why I have so many siddurim, it's because I love a good compare and contrast :D

How fortunate that I never suggested you did, any other strawman arguments you want to start?
"You fail to understand the inherent and many differences between the various Abrahamic religions and how they govern themselves."

"As I believe you do.'
