Ah! OK..... I acknowledge your point. That I did not say. I say this specifically about Jesus and the company he kept.
Science inferred status of preaching to humans owning no scientific wisdom. Did not understand scientific thesis. Strange language. He might have existed, but the the supernatural stories like rising from the dead and walking on water are absurd and were probably invented by his followers.
True. Agreed. He might have existed, but the the supernatural stories like rising from the dead and walking on water are absurd and were probably invented by his followers.
Yes, and that's the only kinds of events that we have.He might have existed, but the the supernatural stories like rising from the dead and walking on water are absurd and were probably invented by his followers.
You don't think the gospels record many perfectly natural things Jesus did?Yes, and that's the only kinds of events that we have.
How is it good news if it’s not historical? It is true to its purpose, to spread the 'good news' that the crucified Jesus was raised from death to life, what God did for Jesus, and that our salvation is through Christ. That is the confession of faith, conveyed within narrative.
They only mention Christian beliefs, not information about Jesus.I am interested in the critics and enemies of Christianity that wrote about Jesus. None of them suggested that he was a myth.
He’s saying Christianity is a fraud. Do we believe that part?Celsus is one of my favourite enemies of Jesus, because he can even tell us a little more about the disciples than any others.
Thankyou for that evidence for Jesus.
True but he doesn’t lobby for better conditions or anything. He is just there to resemble a less verbose Socrates. Not till the climax of the tale.
Yes, leading us straight to the hole in the middle of Christianity, the complete absence of a reason why it was necessary for Jesus to die.True but he doesn’t lobby for better conditions or anything. He is just there to resemble a less verbose Socrates.
He is knocking Christianity hard, but he also tells us about the disciples..... something like 'some boatmen and two tax officers'...?He’s saying Christianity is a fraud. Do we believe that part?
I dug up a collection of references to Jesus from 'Origen against Celsus'He’s saying Christianity is a fraud. Do we believe that part?
