Weird habits or superstitions?

At work I am quick to shame those who use the Q (quiet), S (slow), and E (easy) words. I will not have the work gremlin curse a nice work day due to someone's careless usage of terminology. They can be like the rest of us and just lie about how their days are going. "Oh yah, sure is busy today! This has been a terrible day... Yah..." :D

Yes be careful. I've had mine for near 40 years. Its mainly a medium tone but sometimes it hits high pitches that are really annoying.

I was once at work and I heard the sound of an electric motor starting up and getting faster and faster with an associated increase in pitch. (something like the noise at the start of the Deep Purple Fireball album.)
Nobody else I was working with seemed to notice it and I asked someone if they had heard the sound.
No, was the reply.
I think it had something to do with stress.
Nothing to do with tinnitus but I thought I would thrown it in.

That is odd. Has it ever happened again?

My mother in law was a very serious card player, if she had a loosing hand she would get up and walk around the table to change her luck.

I do many physical things clockwise, from the mental conditioning from a lot circumambulating in Hindu temples. I'll mow the grass that way, walk around the block that way, do driving routes that way. For example, my city has a ring road, and if we decide to go for an evening drive, it'll be in that direction.

We have bingo halls here, for charity. You should see the array of good luck charms. I've worked the charity casinos, and some guys will play the same roulette numbers every single time, every time.

I have actively sought to break any minor superstitions I've gained since I was about 12.
Mostly they were in the sports realm (lucky socks...or I used to have this one in tennis where I didn't like the ball to hit the back fence if I could avoid it, even after the play was dead).

Anyway...I decided they made no sense, and deliberately breaking them was the simplest way to rid myself of them.

I tackled a mild phobia of heights I had in much the same way, but I was a little older before I felt brave enough (15 or so?)

I am the same except I hear a choir singing in the distance.

Could be even worse if you don't like their singing. I'm sure it would be ok with my husband if it were Willie Nelson.
A specialist once told him that there was a 50% chance an operation to correct the tinnitus, but also a 100% chance of total deafness if it were unsuccessful. He opted for the steam.

Their singing is fine. It sounds like some sort of devotional prayer; I just can't make out the words though.

When the tinnitus was really peaking, some 10 years ago, I thought of having an operation to become deaf. However there was no guarantee that the tinnitus would disappear,
So, I decided to habituate it and living has become more bearable.

Anyway, best wishes to your husband.

How about you?
I'm always careful to chew with both sides of my mouth equally.

If I'm eating dinner, I'll alternate sides for each mouthful.

If I'm having candy, popcorn, etc., I'll eat it in even numbers of pieces and split them equally between both sides of my mouth. If I'm left with an odd number of pieces at the end, I'll either bite the last piece in half so both sides are equal or give the last piece to my wife.

No just that once.
I don't really want it to happen again but it was an interesting experience even if a bit disconcerting at the time.
It was almost as if I was special and the only one who could hear the communication from the aliens.
