Indiana University students ask Supreme Court to block vaccine mandate

I didn't question that. My question is what would be a religious reason not to wear a mask and/or not get vaccinated?
Who knows? This will just be the university bending over backwards not to offend inadvertently any obscure group they haven't thought of. After all, there are more weird and wacky "religions" in the USA than anywhere else on earth.

Yup. Get a tattoo of a passage prohibiting homosexuality, but of course, the irony is very close to that passage (same chapter if I recall correctly) is a passage prohibiting tattoos.

This reminds me of a meme I saw a while back: "the moment you realize a motivation IG is actually an accountability IG."

Edit: I mean, I have to assume that this is what's going on: he got something tattooed on his body that would mean he'd get a hard time in a gay bar to force himself to avoid gay bars... right?

I'm sure accommodations can be made in that regard.
But are they?

And if the accommodation is just "students are free to register for any of our many course slots that don't conflict with their mandatory prayers," why wouldn't it also work to just accommodate the anti-vaxxers with "students who would refuse masks or vaccines for religious reasons are free to register for our many online-only courses"?

don't need to try... I am just listing the reason why some religious people would have the statement of "On the base of religious beliefs......

I am not saying one way or the other... just answering the OP

Personally, I wouldn't want the vaccine on two reasons:

1) I've had covid so my natural immune system has created the antibodies which I believe is more effective

2) The potential side effects as stipulated on Oct 22, 2020 by the FDA meeting;

The risk of side effects is significantly lower than the risks of long covid or death from covid. That, and every single medical treatment, procedure, or medication comes with a risk of side effects.
Try again.

I put this in religious debates because..see the red.

"Eight students called for the high court to take up the case following an appeals court ruling this week that backed the university's decision to require all students returning to campus to get vaccinated or wear masks, except in cases where a student may have a medical condition or a religious reason".

Indiana University students ask Supreme Court to block vaccine mandate

So what would be a religious reason and how does religious reason outrank personal choice?
Why do you ask? Are you sincerely interested in converting?

Religion trumps the right of others to avoid infection with a pandemic. So believers can be unmasked & unvaccinated, eh. What if my religion prohibits me from being around such dunderheads?
That would be fantastic! Then we wouldn't have to put up with being called things like dunderheads. Not that I personally mind being called anything. It says more about the caller than the calee.

Perhaps the anti-vaxing anti-maskers could be accommodated
by having their own private campus.
To get away from fear mongering sheep? Sure, why not.

BTW, I'm not anti-vax. I just notice that we've finally found a segment of society (a full half at that) whose thoughts apparently deserve no consideration whatsoever. We've broken the inclusion chain. I guess woke only goes so far in protecting individual choices.

That could be a solution actually.

If you're not anti-vax, & you're taking reasonable precautions,
then you aren't one of the dunderheads (a more polite term
than what I really had in mind).
We have some people who oppose vaccination, oppose
masking, deny the risks of infection, & engage in risky behavior.
Using religion to justify this....totally bogus.

About sheep....people who follow conspiracy theories...
those guys are the ones I hear bleating about the danger
of vaccines & masks taking away our freedom. Geeze,
Louise....wearing a mask is loss of liberty. Go figure.

You would have to support that with facts and not just statements since our capacity to treat COVID has increased with experience and the side effect are just now showing up.

Aren't you glad it wasn't your daughter or sister that got paralyzed after taking COVID?

After taking covid?
And my sister is a physicians assistant. She had to get the vaccine.

Not sure about the relevance... my brother is a RN in the emergency room and the side effects are being reported.
