Poem: Rhyme Time

Name: KAT's Rhyme Time

It's what I am.
How can I?
Make you understand?
It's who I am.
You are there. I am here. You have no idea.
Look behind you.
Look above you.
I'm everything and nothing.
If everything is nothing, can I be your everything?

So go, sacrifice your ram.
Don't tell me why.
Go join the band.
I'm not part of your fam.
I don't take your order. I'm not a pizzeria.
I'm not part of your crew.
My ego's grew.
I worship the Big Bang.
As my session was over, I walked away. The change in my pocket rang.

I said "Next week again?"
"Okay. Just don't tell my friend."
I said "So you want me to buy the new Madden for you? You don't just want to continue playing the old one?"
"Yes. I'm ready for a new year of Big Ben."

"I call him Big Bang with that arm," I said.

I'm thinking I may @ @lewisnotmiller on account of him appreciating sports, just in case he knows American football.

Of course I know Big Ben. I follow it still, but back in his prime I watched a lot of NFL, and the Steelers were often on TV here.

Sadly, my appreciation for poetry is less developed. Not my forte.

And we'll see how feedback goes on my poem, but thinking it over, I may have packed too many ideas in. People want to read things fast, rather than look for the hidden rhymes. And some may miss the little innuendo, but it turns out to just be about an intense Madden game - so a pretty wholesome poem, I guess (or hope). So my poem is really packed with too much stuff, but it's how my mind has been working lately. I used to be "gifted", and as I experience new paths in my faith, it's like those closed areas of my mind are opening up again, leading to a lot of thoughts.

It's cool. I appreciate the response.

We Never Know

No Slack
The first two large paragraphs rhyme, but paragraph 1 rhymes with paragraph 2.

My little brother(13 years younger) wrote this while he set in a county jail waiting to go to prison in the early 90's.

Here I lay alone at night
With god and just a little light

I look back at how I went wrong
And all the days that have come and gone

I try not to think of my friends
But their longing memory never ends

When I get out I will change my ways
For now I can only dream of better days

Until then I can only lay here at night
With god and just a little light.

He did get out but never changed his ways. He is currently in prison again and has spent 23 of the last 30 years locked up.

Ironically he never wrote another poem.

Interesting poem. My poems come off pretty different due to me being a bit deadpan / heterodox.
