Masturbation proves many Christians don't believe what they profess

Repulsive indicates you have some unnatural emotional imbalance here (someone put this idea in your mind). I mean if 92% do it, doing it should definitely not be repulsive. And to feel shame (repulsive) for something which is natural to humans (according to OP) is not healthy
I don't find masturbating repulsive, never said I did or even implied it. I find masturbating in front of your own father (or mother) repulsive. Evidently you don't agree?

According to "the worlds largest masturbation survey" 92% of American men masturbate. 76% of American women do. That sounds pretty closed to correct based on my experience,

What do you mean with that experience? Are you working for Google or some other all spying company? :D

...The 92% of males who masturbate, would never, under any circumstances masturbate directly in front of their actual father. Not unless they have some sort of twisted incestual sexual relationship. ....

That is probably true. But, can human be compared to an omnipresent God that you can’t see? I don’t think, if Christian masturbates, he thinks he is doing it in front of God, in same sense as in front of human.

Interesting thing is also, in Bible sex between man and woman is allowed and not bad. Also that would be visible to God. But I don’t think most people would do it in front of their parent. By what I see, there is a difference in that, is something done in front of human, or in front of God.

Also, if something is not good, it is not good, even if no one sees it. So, I think the meaningful question is, is it wrong to masturbate. I don’t think it is directly forbidden. But it is possible that it is still not good. I wouldn’t deny it, but I think it would be good if it is not something that rules person, because:

”All things are lawful for me," but not all things are expedient. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be brought under the power of anything.
1 Corinthians 6:12

"All things are lawful for me," but not all things are profitable. "All things are lawful for me," but not all things build up."
1 Corinthians 10:23

...So what is more likely; American Christian men do not really masturbate, or the claim that Christians make about honestly believing their God is watching us all at times is not only incorrect, but their actions indicate they don't actually believe it themselves?

I think it is wrong to make general assumption in that.

Does this mean you're not supposed to jerk off? Hard to tell with all that flowery back and forth action..Anyway, if I had to think that every time, I sure wouldn't bother with it anymore. Talk about a mood killer
It's the least type of forbidden sex, yet it is. And a soul that can't control their desires before marriage might not able to after. In Islam, it's very important to have light control the body and that we act only purposely for God.

In a marriage, we please the wife or wife pleases husband and together, we suppose to be happy on journey towards God and make things easier and have tranquility in one another.

But if you don't control desires, such as you can't control lust that you have to pleasure yourself, it will lead to other things.

Of course Muta is allowed as well, but only as a last resort. But even that, it emphasizes to have good intention and emphasizes that you can marry them after (we might not but it seems it's recommended to).

In Islam, it's highly important we never give our body, mind, or soul to lust because we can easily be lead astray by Satan towards ladies from his forces and we may abandon the light when we let go of control.

For example, we may want to cheat later or be in open marriage (have fantasies), but Quran says to abandon sexual perversions be the inward (in the mind/soul) or outward.

What do people probably when they masturbate these days? I bet the watch porn videos and fantasize this all leads astray from the path.

If a Muslim masturbates, they are required to cleanse themselves and repent.

I mean, I'm a man so I have the experience of myself. The locker room joke has always been there are two kinds of men - those who masturbate and those who lie about it. In my experience, somewhere in the 90% range sounds right (taking into account age).

Exactly. That is exactly the point. I don't see how anyone could think God is actually seeing everything we do. If they really thought that, the decision to not masturbate at all would be as easy as the decision we all make to not masturbate in front of our own fathers (if one would call that a decision at all).

I never said nor implied that you did

Yes, that is exactly what I understood from your OP and to which I replied

Evidently you don't agree?
Indeed, I don't think it's repulsive.

Note: Repulsive is just a thought and in this context the real reason seems to me "feeling ashamed/embarrassed to be yourself"

Talk about a click-bait style title! I heard this comment once (can't remember where) and thought it was really interesting. I'm speaking specifically to American Christian men & women. No offense to those with other religious beliefs, I just do not know if this will apply to other theology.

According to "the worlds largest masturbation survey" 92% of American men masturbate. 76% of American women do. That sounds pretty closed to correct based on my experience, though I'd question the honesty of the remaining 8% of men, since that is significantly more than the % of men who are born without hands.

Roughly 65% of American men claim to be Christian. This means 65% of American men who masturbate, are Christians. Of this group, most (I assume) would claim that their God (or Jesus) is with them all day long. He can and does literally watch what they do at all times. You obviously cannot hide from an all-knowing god. You see where this is going?

The 92% of males who masturbate, would never, under any circumstances masturbate directly in front of their actual father. Not unless they have some sort of twisted incestual sexual relationship. I suppose I could be wrong here. Maybe everyone else is masturbating in front of their parents, and I'm the only one who finds that thought repulsive.

So what is more likely; American Christian men do not really masturbate, or the claim that Christians make about honestly believing their God is watching us all at times is not only incorrect, but their actions indicate they don't actually believe it themselves?
This is interesting.
Perhaps you can similarly do some research on fornication.
Among "Christians" (please observe the quotation marks) masturbation, fornication, are often not considered, sinful, to what are usually considered non-practicing Christians, and there are many, apparently.

What is to blame for that are 1) Some "Christians" are simply Church goers - that is, they put on their "Sunday best", go to church, and that's it. Why? 2) They are not taught Bible principles. The Bible does not explicitly say anything about masturbation, but contains principles to guide us in these decisions.
For example, the Bible does not say anything about oral sex, smoking, etc, but does that mean a Christian has freedom to do these things?
The early Christians did not go to war, but no scripture says explicitly that a Christian should not. Yet, Bible principles guided the early Christians in this regard.
3) For the most part people who once were God-fearing, no longer are. So it is easier for most "Christians" to live a life of, "just be good to (love) your neighbor", and the rest is history. Love of God is invisible - unseen.
This was prophesied. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 ...know this, that in the last days ...men will be... lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power

Since the Bible is hardly taught among those making up most "Christianity", its values are no longer of any value among them.
This too was prophesied. 2 Thessalonians 2:6-12 ; 2 Timothy 4:3, 4
False stories are the order of the day, and quite appealing to them. This too is mentioned in scripture - Revelation 12:9-12

Christians also steal, cheat on their partners, and do a lot of things that their religion tells them are wrong. Does this really come as some kind of new revelation to you? (I'm not actually sure that Christianity has much, if anything, to say about masturbation, as it happens, though it has been traditionally disapproved of.)

Christianity is designed for people who are imperfect and commit sins. This innate tendency is what "Original Sin" is all about, i.e. it is recognised in Christianity as built into Man's makeup.

During my days as a Catholic, I remember the story of Onan (Genesis chapter 38) being where this “rule” came from - but Onan was actually being punished for disobeying God’s order to carry through impregnating his brother’s widow. The rest is man-made shaming tactics, rules etc to the best of my knowledge.

In terms of Christianity in general, Jesus warned of thinking in lustful ways, so that could in part, encompass sexual acts of all kinds.

This has nothing to do with what is considered sinful and what isn't considered sinful. At least, that is not the point of the OP, I'm not judging the act right or wrong. I'm wondering (right or wrong) if you think god is watching you do it. And if so, why would you? Because no human in their right mind would do it directly in front of an actual parent - and I imagine what you do before your God is even more important than what you do in front of other humans. If all the info is correct, a huge majority of Christian men masturbate directly in front of Jesus and for some reason, no one thinks that is weird.

I think many Christians don't know how to explain this but intuitively know what I'm about to explain:

God to Christians is everywhere and we live in God, so 'Watching' doesn't quite have the meaning that it sounds like. Christian canon says "In him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28) not "He is watching you." Its questionable whether God is watching when you wipe your bum any more than when you are sleeping. The way that people think of God varies, and some think God talks to them directly while others don't.

So..."Every person's work will be tested with fire." (paraphrase of (1 Corinthians 3:15ish) Its a scripture verse interpreted various ways. That which you do which has no value is worthless. The Christian ought not to waste time but ought to at all times be working. From this perspective wasting time in any fashion is about equally as sinful or stupid as masturbation, and God who has no human parts probably cares no more for one waste of time over another.

So I'd say while your question sounds shocking its actually missing most of the worse things Christians do such as waste time on video games or on TV or over eating etc.
God to Christians?
I'll have to ask which, Brick, because God to Christians, is not everywhere, and we are not in him in the sense you refer.
(Proverbs 15:3) The eyes of Jehovah are everywhere, Watching both the bad and the good.

(1 Peter 3:12) For the eyes of Jehovah are on the righteous, and his ears listen to their supplication, but the face of Jehovah is against those doing bad things.”

I'm really surprised how few people are following the point of the post. I could steal in front of my father. I could cheat on my partner and tell my dad about it. There are a lot of "wrong" things I could do in front of my own parents. The point of the OP has nothing to do with whether or not the act is right or wrong.

The question is, would you masturbate directly in front of your own parents? The answer, for all of us reasonable people is of course NO. However, some people believe whatever they do, they are doing it directly in front of Jesus. If they really believe it, then they also masturbate in front of Jesus. Which, I am objecting to not because its wrong, but because I don't understand how a human who is human enough to not masturbate directly in front of Mom and Dad, has no problem doing it in front of Jesus.

I hope you don't mind if I try to simplify all that.
Why would a Christian think that God is watching what they do (does not have to be masturbation. Could be anything for that matter).
Since God to a Christian is more important than a human parent, why do Christians feel comfortable masturbating in front of God, when they would not, in front of their parents.

Did I get it correctly?
If yes, how is my post not on point, as I did give the reasons why they do it?

Moonjuice

Everything.
It has nothing to do with the point at all. You are discussing whether or not masturbation is a sin. I am discussing the idea that perhaps believe claim to believe things they do not actually believe, regardless if it is a sin or not.
