I want to go to a quiet place. Somewhere non-touristy. Some place out there, maybe where I couldn't get a cell phone signal. Definitely a place where I don't see posters with hashtags or QR codes. I'd like to travel between villages and get to know people, maybe by foot, but definitely not by tour bus. I might be a little uncomfortable at first, but I'll get used to it. Maybe I'll have to learn another language, or learn to communicate without it.

Just to go. And be. And be with others. And God/dess. I don't really care where, so long as its simple.

Sounds like you'd enjoy a good through hike - maybe at least a section hike. I've thought of doing the Appalachian trail myself. :D

A hike would be fun! I'm soft and out of shape, but I assume it'll get me there.

Got lost on an Appalachian trail once, but that was by car.

Pfft... No one goes to a through hike physically prepared! It's one of those things that you work through and conquer as you do it. By the time you leave, your legs are corded steel. :D

But also the Southern US seems to be full of culture and I'd love to visit.

The Isle of Sark, just off the coast of Normandy. It's the only island in the world designated a Dark Sky community. There is very little electricity, zero light polution and cars are not allowed on the island.

As a result, the night sky looks like this:

It depends who I go with.

When I was at University I wanted to go to Brazil and Mexico with University friends (2 trips).

That didn't happen so for the past 5 years I've been wanting to go to Japan and South Korea with my Mum.
I also want to go to India again as I've only seen Maharastra

I’d love to see Waimea Canyon & the NaPali coast on Kauai again!

And Montego Bay, w/ the mountains in the background!

Really, just about anywhere tropical with a beach and mountains behind it!

Outside! :D

I've stayed in the house (and the garden) for two years now, waiting out till the end of the pandemic. It should end by the start of next year. I would be nice to meet up with some old friends, or just to book a few nights in a hotel to enjoy being away from the house for a bit. I could use a vacation.

You know, I thought I'd miss restaurants(which I won't go to anymore), but once I got used to not going, I realized...

My food is totally better than any of theirs. Screw paying triple for mediocre junk.

Only drawback is the dishes.

I miss my gym, though. We canceled our membership. Its open, but I don't feel safe going or taking the kids.

The food at home is definitely better (and cheaper). I expect there will be a re-entry shock when I do finally go out. I think it is just the thought of it, like a kind of culinary nostalgia for pre-pandemic comfort eating.

probably a good call and you want to keep yourself and the kids safe whilst Covid is still going around. When things have settled back down, you could give it another go. I've heard some reports suggest the middle of next year when the pandemic will be officially "over" (or as close to it as reasonably possible).

I remember getting take put from one of my favorite restaurants... nope. Wasn't as good as I remembered. Another restaurant we liked shut down, and another one went to online orders online and delivery through a third party company... I'm unwilling to pay the fairly expensive delivery fees or go through the 'name screening' they do to prepare a person's food.

I'm doubting we'll go back to the gym, due to costs. Before Covid, we didn't have the internet. Now our monthly gym money pays the internet bill. We could ditch it, but I ended up homeschooling(with no intent to send the kids back), and that would make homeschooling really difficult.

Sounds pretty reasonable. I hope the homeschooling works out for the best. :)
