Homosexuality

I suppose you're right, but what would you suggest be done about it (realistically)? Nothing that really can be done except to just continue pulling these people into the 21st century kicking and screaming via the natural progress of society, as far as I can tell.
That is a tricky question. I had to do a tremendous amount of suffering and endure a lot of torments to help pull me out of it, along with learning real things about the world outside of the Church. And I'm sure it did take both.

i came across a report about the newly elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Apparently he used part of a sermon from another pastor. (He was given permission, but did not credit the other pastor).
big deal

but the topic was eye opening

here is a portion taken from the article, which was written by Bob Smietana, from the Roys Report:

“I want you to turn to your neighbor right now. And I want you to say, I know this sermon is going to be really tough for you,” he says.

The two pastors also say very similar things about homosexuality, which both believe is sinful.

But they each say Christians have erred by treating sexual sin as if it is worse than other sins — and singling out LGBT people as the worst of sinners.

“Homosexuality does not send you to hell,” says Greear. “You know how I know that? Because heterosexuality does not send you to heaven.”

Quite interesting statement at the end there.

this is a good start in the right direction, imo.

i believe the Christian religions crusade against homosexuals is the result of serious biblical misinterpretation, but what do I know?

the Bible has over 31000 verses with a specific theme summarized by Jesus when he answered the question “what is the greatest commandment”?

yet Christianity and many within the religion have treated the Bible as if it had only two messages:

don’t be homosexual and don’t abort babies

strange, that those two things aren’t even found in the Bible, and NOT in the words of Jesus. imo

your thoughts on this statement?:

“Homosexuality does not send you to hell,” says Greear. “You know how I know that? Because heterosexuality does not send you to heaven.”

Greear was the previous SBC president, and Litton is the new president as of last week
it does seem a big deal when you see people at the top of an extremely conservative religious organization sending a message that deviates from the narrative that has been so strongly pushed for decades in Christianity.
could it be a response to their declining numbers ?

Would it still be heaven if heterosexuals were sent to a heaven of heterosexuals of their own sex? Once there, they would realize that there is no sex without bodies.

Science.

Observation. Conscious awareness self driven by what humans are aware of.

Observation said first two humans as DNA same parent life for all humans.

Humans own the origin sexual parents for babies.

Not any DNA today is origin it was changed by nation ground fusion mass and atmospheric variable fall out.

Reason earth was in two of seasons.

No race is origin human anymore. We all survived irradiation of DNA.

We know equal sexual parents were real balances.

Changed genesis said the criminal murder by science choice to alter what God owned supported caused changed human behaviours and sexual identification.

A crime against God by scientists.

How it was preached.

Science genesis a man in gods law is penis owner. Chosen by science the criminal act changed his God man behaviour.

Cannot argue how a man first existed. Knowledge behaviour is a man's.

This is nothing new. I have never heard a evangelical say homosexuality sends you to hell. If you understand the Bible you know that it's lack of faith in Jesus that sends people to hell. Their specific sins are not responsible, but their lack of faith.

It's not entirely over. It's been a long process of healing, and the damage was so extensive, deep, and profound I'm still healing in some ways. Some of the emotional scars I'm not sure ever will.

I agree that it is not the homosexuality itself, it is the unrighteousness that will lead to hell, because Bible says eternal life is for righteous.

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Mat. 25:46

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

I believe righteous person understands these two also:

You shall not murder.
Ex. 20:13

'You shall not lie with a man, as with a woman. That is detestible.
Lev. 18:22

what ever happened to 'a sin is a sin'?

it is as you say

a sin IS a sin.

but it isn’t YOU who determines who is a sinner, and who isn’t
nor a religion

however, I am sure you will be fully capable of telling the rest of us what sin is,

as soon as the log is long gone from your eye

and the same goes for all the man made religions

It is my opinion that actively engaging in homosexual acts will ultimately send a person to hell. However, the true concept of hell has been misunderstood for millenniums. Hell should be defined (biblically) as meaning a second death. Where, "permanent" non-existence occurs. There is no pain or suffering (for eternity) in this state. Hence, I disagree with Greear's first statement and his usage of the following one to support his claim. So, actively being a heterosexual (verses a homosexual) is a Godly command for mankind (Gen. 1:28). So, when it comes to sexuality and its acts, there is good and evil. Yet, this is only one category of many that determines ones final fate. Thus, even being a heterosexual is no guarantee that hell is not warranted. It just means that there is one less problem to worry about. But, you can follow "all" of God's commands and still be destined to a hell state, if one is "actively" being a homosexual.

i’m thinking that I agree with that

but i have had a difficult time understanding the concept of faith

how would you explain it to someone?

Jesus said you must be born again. He followed that up with saying whoever believes on him will have eternal life. And he followed that up by saying that those who live by truth will come into the light, so that it will be seen that what he does is through God. Faith it seems, is allowing God to bring us to the truth.
