Christians...is sexual attraction a choice?

Only I've seen it more than once.
What is being attracted to someone proof of?
If I'm attracted to someone 30 years old when I'm ten does that mean that would be a healthy relationship?
We exist in a culture that says hormones are never wrong, which is nonsense.

You’re talking about a non consensual relationship between a ten year old and thirty year old. There is no informed consent. It’s a control issue. Being attracted to another consenting adult is proof of attraction. That’s what it’s proof of. I could get graphic about what happens physiologically when I’m close to another man, one I find attractive. Something I have no control over. But I won’t. I’ll leave it to your imagination. It’s not only hormones and physical attraction.

So again, I feel an intense attraction to some woman in the store that isn't my wife? It's happened... so what?
We aren't animals... we don't have to act on our every impulse.

We don’t go ****ing every man we see and like. You do know we fall in love, right?

I do not believe that. I believe one can view homosexuality as a sin even if there was no choice in sexual attraction. Suppose I am a married man and find another girl sexually attractive. To bed her would be adultery. We all are given physical attributes and some of them difficult to cope with. We don't have to allow the negative things to define us.

Yes one can view the homosexual 'act' as a sin if that is your belief. There needs to be an understanding of what it is that you are asking of ones orientation which is greater than a sexual act. Our sexuality pretty much defines who we are and how we relate to life. Imagine having to have a platonic relationship with your wife and how you would 'cope' with it. If it is admitted that sexuality is not by choice, but God's creation, it looses a sense of negativity.

What a strange idea. I’m not attracted to obese women. I certainly don’t hate them, but I don’t find them sexually attractive. Hating what you don’t find attractive doesn’t compute.
Good point! I think that hate was too strong a word. The better word might be aversion.

When it comes to homosexuality, there seems to be two primary points of view: You are either born this way, or you choose it. I am convinced that it is not a choice and that almost anyone can be convinced its not a choice in very short order. Are there any Christians here who still think its a choice?

I believe it is a choice for most. I believe that a very small % of people are born with something odd going on that we do not understand until they reach puberty and start to behave and think like the opposite sex. Some of these are found to have 2 sets of genitals that was unknown to anyone until the onset of puberty.

So in most cases, it is a choice.
In 'some' cases there is something biological going on that needs fixing.

Do you recall when you chose which sex you were going to be attracted to? What was that like? Were you equally attracted to both sexes or was one dominate over the other when you made your choice?

in reference to homosexuality.

So heterosexual attraction is involuntary, homosexual attraction is a choice? That would mean they too involuntarily are attracted to the opposite sex, just like us, but choose instead to ignore their natural instincts and decide to find their same sex attractive? Doesn’t add up.

You've contradicted yourself. If you believe that it's a choice, then how come it's no longer a choice for someone who has 2 sets of genitals? Even if they acted like the opposite sex, wouldn't it still be a choice since the opposite sex is making a choice?

Obviously, I'm just going with your way of reasoning.
