When Sudama, a poor brahmin class-mate of Krishna visited Krishna, do you know what present did he bring?
A hand-full of rice, his wife said that he must not go empty-handed when he visits his friend.
When Krishna was told by the palace guard that a person with the name Sudama has come avisiting, Krishna ran to the palace gate bare-feet.
Sudama was hiding his packet of rice, but Krishna noticed it and it is said that he ate the uncooked rice.
So, deities do not need anything other than devotion and for that too there is no commandment in Hinduism that one has to worship.
It is always a person's choice.
This is from the other day. It’s a repurposed closet, sliding doors removed, a sheer curtain instead. I have tried to pare it down but when I wrap some of the statues they won’t stay in the box. I’m serious... it’s like they say “let us out!” But everyone who is there represents or reflects something meaningful to me.

I agree. The problem I have is that I collect statues and wind up with several of the same deity. I like the colorful ones especially. The area has only so much room. What I have currently is another shelf where they’re displayed but not worshiped. That is, I don’t wave the lamp or incense or put offerings. It’s a good compromise currently until I work something out that I have room for all of them. And I’ve stopped collecting.

It is beautiful. Bhakti alone is enough for Vighnaharta (destoyer of obstacles), Vinayaka (the leader). What a cute idol of Parvati-suta - son of Mother Parvati, over-shadowed by paraphernalis.

Ashoka, what can we give to God? The whole universe is his. What does Shiva need? Is he not supposed to live half-naked in the Himalayan heights? He does not even need a house. Shiva is complete just with Mother Parvati.
