Hello
I found this forum while googling for an English translation of a book written in Hebrew (Toldos Yaakov Yosef).
A thread here came up in my search results.
It looks like an interesting place, so maybe I’ll stick around.

Did you find it? :D

I know finding English translations of such stuff can be a headache, and even if you can find one it's often not in the best English. Translating Rav Hirsch has been quite the task for many.

:)
We have a few professional scholars posting. Maybe they will find you. The quality of your discussion will depend upon what area of the site a thread starts in, so read the Dir rules, the rules about debate and the rules about copyright and spam.

Debate here is defined to be any conversation in which people correct what another person says or what a group they name on this site says. It is not actual formal debate. Formal (scholarly) debates are very rare, but you can have these in the 'One on one debate' section.

The more people the merrier!

No, I didn’t :(.
I probably wouldn’t understand much even if I did, though.

When can I start liking posts etc? I want to show you guys that I appreciate your posts.

I’m trying to become somewhat familiar with the rules and culture of this forum before I start posting all over the place.

You can already like posts. You can't like posts in DIRs to which you aren't subscribed.

I see that now :). I thought if it was faded I couldn’t click on it.
How do I subscribe to the DIR’s?

Go to your profile at the top of the page and to 'personal details', be aware of Rule 10:

2) All DIR (Discuss Individual Religions) forums are for the use of members who identify with those groups or practices. Debating is not permitted in DIRs; debates between members of specified groups should be posted in Same Faith Debates. A member may select up to a maximum of three (3) DIRs with which they identify. A member may change their selection of DIRs at any time, but the total number of DIRs selected must never exceed three (3). Members who do not identify with a DIR group may not post in that DIR section; we recommend creating a thread in the Religions Q&A instead where there is more freedom to comment. DIR forums are not to be used as a cover to bash others outside of the DIR group.
