Really? The discussion was on witch trials with it being said the witch trials resemble to woke crowd who demands purity and conformity. Much the what was at the center of much religious oppression over the millennia.
Oh, so it wasn't you who write these statements, then?

"Overall, it seems to me the "woke" crowd of purity tests, demanding pure societies, and turning even minor and trivial things into a major offense is who was doing the trials."

"There are, afterall, many reasons I go on about wokishness being very similar to conservative protestant evangelicals. The woke crowd doesn't kill people though, they kill careers and wrongly judge and condemn. Just as the witch trials."

Well, in that case, I am glad that you didn't light of an actual religiously motivated genocide that cost thousands of women and men their lives, by comparing it to people being obnoxiously rude online!

Hopefully, there will come a time when we can altogether stop comparing contemporary issues championed by people whom we disagree with to actual, for real crimes against humanity.

As for the woke SJdubs, their damage count includes many careers, including those wrongly blamed, such as Middle Eastern Muslims who fled those lands for their lives and get criticized themselves for it, up to be called "Sam Harris' house Muslim."(they're also very hypocritical and live by double standards, much like the Crusaders and Inquisitors and witch trial judges).
Yes, that sounds exactly like what happened at the witch trials!
Because if the witch trials are infamous for anything, it's for calling people rude names, and definitely not for the murder of many thousands of people under the veneer of religiosity!

Sam Harris is a douche. But being a stupidly over-critical author is not comparable to using religious traditionalism to set up execution squads against nonconformists. And some ahole losing his job because he went on a Twitter tirade isn't either.

It's the equivalent of a petulant child calling their parent a fascist for grounding them over something they find unfair.
Or this:

*religious innovation

The tradition was that witches didn't exist and that belief in witchcraft was heretical.

Also everyone knows the best Medieval comparison for "wokeness" is Lateran 4 :D

Name calling isn't a valid rebuttal.

What are you going on about?
Hopefully, there will come a time when we can altogether stop
Let me finish that...
Hopefully there will come a time when we can stop twisting positions and arguments to attempt force them in a box we feel it must go into and cannot possibly go into any other box.

The original comparison was meant to be between the hysteria. Witches didn't exist and neither do half the racists/phobes/bigots that we are told exist.

In any case, can we please move on, lol.

If this tangent makes you uncomfortable, then perhaps you could, in the future, refrain from bringing up these ridiculous right-wing canards that have nothing to do with the topic under discussion? That seems the best course of action in this situation, in my humble opinion.

Of course, that's just my opinion - I'm not the boss of you, and you can spread whatever execrable conspiracy theory you want, if you feel like that makes your life more fulfilling.
