More Than 200 Bodies Found at Indigenous School in Canada

We Never Know

No Slack
This is sad and happens more around the world than we realize.

"The remains of 215 children, some as young as 3 years old, have been found buried on the site of what was once Canada’s largest Indigenous residential school.

KAMLOOPS, British Columbia (AP) — The remains of 215 children, some as young as 3 years old, have been found buried on the site of what was once Canada's largest Indigenous residential school — one of the institutions that held children taken from families across the nation.

Chief Rosanne Casimir of the Tk’emlups te Secwépemc First Nation said in a news release that the remains were confirmed last weekend with the help of ground-penetrating radar.

More bodies may be found because there are more areas to search on the school grounds, Casimir said Friday.

So sad these things aren't uncommon, with the good willed perpetrators doing severe damage to those they see as heathenois barbarians who have to be taught better.
This side of the Atlantic or the other side, it's a tragic history that sadly doesn't seem entirely behind us (or Pacific, as even New Zealand and Australia are still embarrassing in their relations with the indigenous).

Residential Schools in Canada | The Canadian Encyclopedia

The care wasn't great, and abuse, both physical and sexual, was rampant. The news isn't as sad as the fact such atrocities happened in the name of religion. Every single residential school in Canada should have the grounds searched. They're incredibly creepy places, those old brick buildings, those jails for children.

It makes me angry, and I don't anger easily.

What are you saying... that we should all hate the thing that people claim to represent?
So when people do wrong, in the ame of God, and Jesus, we should hate God and Jesus?
(John 16:2, 3) 2 Men will expel you from the synagogue. In fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he has offered a sacred service to God. 3 But they will do these things because they have not come to know either the Father or me.
(Romans 10:2) For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge

When people do things in the name of the law, we should hate cops?
Police misconduct - Wikipedia

Should we hate physicians?
Nearly 1 in 5 Americans have experienced physician misconduct with most incidents going unreported, survey finds

Scientists? etc.
What are you saying?

I'm saying I'm saddened by the brutality of the history of attempted genocide. It wouldn't matter to me which culture was dominant or which culture was passive. I hope some of the cousins and second cousins of this history's victims can find some sort of closure.

Canada has a huge race issues with indigenous people. Weither it's from racism or something else it's a terrible thing to discover. Especially involving a school.

You are not alone. The 'colored" people think the long history of racism is far from over, and they are not the only ones who feel a certain group is targeted for brutality and sexual exploitation.
The whole world is filled with injustice, from the head to the foot... isn't it?
Who will stand up for justice for all?
I am looking for the fulfillment of Isaiah 9:6, 7.
Until then, we can just hold on, for the rough ride... some, more than others.

During the 19th Century until the 1970s more than 150,000 First Nation children were forced to attend state funded Christian schools where First Nation children were forcibly assimilated into the white man's culture. Canadian Christian schools controlled by white men abused many First Nation children for speaking their First Nation native tongue,, and these abused children lost contact with their parents..

Tip of the iceberg. There will be hidden graves at every single residential school ever built.
If it's anything like this one is... I shudder the thought.

It seems from what I gathered so far, a mix of racism and religion, once again, involving the Catholic Church.

The same thing happened in the US - it's a crime in more than one place.

I'd like DNA testing done to find the nearest living relative to each of these corpses. They should each be awarded at least ten thousand loonies for a proper burial ceremony of their lost family member.

II - Ignorance and injustice doesn't have a color, or creed.
Conscientious objection and dissent in the First World War - Conscientious objection and dissent | NZHistory, New Zealand history online.
The Defence Department had little patience or sympathy for conscripts who explicitly rejected all forms of military service. Such men were known as ‘conscientious objectors’, because they placed their own consciences and beliefs before the demands of the state. Typically a conscientious objector would refuse to accept his military kit on arrival at camp, and be given a short period of imprisonment during which to reconsider his position. If he maintained his objection on release, he would be court-martialled and imprisoned for up to two years for ‘disobeying a lawful command’.

Conscientious objector - Wikipedia
Many conscientious objectors have been executed, imprisoned, or otherwise penalized when their beliefs led to actions conflicting with their society's legal system or government.

I did not realize there were (edited) *state* funded Christian schools in the U.S. I would consider that to be an unconstitutional breach of separating religion and the state.

What's frustrating for me is the lack of action in the present. There are about 120 First Nations in Canada that don't have clean drinking water. The Catholic Church, instead of excessive apologising, could step up and build water treatment plants for every single one. But the government and the Church pass the buck back and forth with things like that.

It's more like religion breaking up nations that the government sanctions.

One would think.

Most were Catholic/Christian internment camps that were just brutal in so many ways towards the native nation's.
