How well do you know God?

In an other thread i was asked if i knew God and if yes, how well? (my version of the question asked)
And i can say for sure i do not know Allah as well as i maybe could or should. But how about you?

How well do you, in your own words know God?

Good evening, Conscious Thoughts;

God is very transparent in the bible, and very explicit to the fact of having information that leads to a person being able to know Him to an extent.

Did you know God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29 ) according to the bible, God is spirit (John 4:24) that is why we are unable to see Him, and that God is love ( 1 John 4:16), did you know God is the embodiment of love?

What about Allah, does the Quran explain any of these things about God in the scriptures that are in it; ( I have never read the Quran and probably never will; you can tell me though if you would like to @Conscious thoughts).

Thank your for your reply @MatthewA :) As you describe, Allah in the Quran is also love and compassion. (you may have heard of the 99 names for Allah? ) Those are all atributes of Allah`s true beings (in my understanding)

Would you say you know God also outside of the scripture in the Bible? or can you only understand God through the scripture?

I believe that God can be understood by and through all that has been made. According to

Romans 1: 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

I believe to have an intimate relationship with the Christian God of the bible one must seek the truth about the Christian God of the Bible, and also the truth about the Lord Jesus Christ. Which is totally an individual responsibility to go and do.

That is what the Christian God of the Bible desires is for people to come the knowledge of the truth.

Here is scriptural proof of this: 1 Timothy 2: 3This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

And (I believe personally) there is only one way to get to God and that is by and through the Lord Jesus Christ according to the Christian Philosophy you are asking about, and that also including an accepting that Jesus Christ had came, died, was buried, and was risen again by God.

Here is scriptural proof: Romans 10:9that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.
And I also believe that only faith comes by hearing the word of God according to the Christian Scriptures:

Here is scriptural proof of this : Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
It also tells us that it is impossible to please God without faith. Do not know what it says in the Quran about this.

Here is scriptural proof of this: Hebrews 11:6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Hope all of this information helps you because of your seeking and desire to know more about the Christian God of the Bible.

Have you had any prior knowledge of these before hand when it comes down to the bible? My desire is to simply give you the truth of what the bible has to say and for you to question, think, and ponder about them and decide what you want to do about them.

I have no knowledge of Allah just for clarity.

As i said in an other thread a few days ago, i have very limited knowledge about the actual content of the Bible, in the past i thought i understood, but i come to the understanding that i did lack a lot of understanding.

My previous experience with the bible is more than 20 years ago. And my parents was Christians so they spoke some about it in my childhood.

And yes your links and writing will give me better understanding :) Thank you for sharing

That is very helpful to know Conscious Thoughts. Myself would like to be a teacher of the bible: Thought I only desire to share the truth about scripture by and through the spirit and give an understanding to the context that is being read from in whatever book it is that is in the bible which are 66 of them.

I made this video awhile back and someone thought it was okay they gave me a like. It is 7 minutes and do not know if you have time to go and see but will post it here in a spoiler.

How well do I know who? Who is God? ;)

I would answer that by first saying, that God is not just a concept.
Nor something that man got an idea.

We not only see evidence that there is a creator, whom we refer to as God, due to the fact that worship is offered to that entity.

So, I would say, we come to know something about God, first through his creation - that is us living beyond those who claimed to have direct experience with God.

From creation, I learn of many facets of God - his awesome power, unfathomable love, abundant wisdom, and so forth.

Apart from that, we could know nothing about the creator.
To me, it's like looking at a painting exhibition, and only knowing that the artist likes nudes - not God. :D

However, if the paintings all carry a signature. Ah. I know the artist's name, but that's all. I don't know if the artist is black or red; tall or short; and many other things.

That's where we would need communication - to meet the artist... if not in person, in another way.
The Bible is the oldest book that reveals information about God, in a clear, coherent, chronological way.

The writters, presents facts that we are only now discovering.
So, I trust that the accounts are indeed reliable history of the creator communicating his personality - his characteristics, feelings, thoughts, will... to mankind.

That is what the Bible itself says. That it is God's letter of communication, to the human family.
Through an extensive study of the Bible, I have come believe that, and I would say, I know God very well, based on what he reveals about himself in the writings of his servants, from Moses down to John.

...as stated at 2 Timothy 3:16, 17
All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, so that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

For me it happened the moment I believed on Jesus. I was on my own . It was 12 am . I spent 7 months going over all the reasons why the accounts of Jesus may or may not be true .Until that night I was overwhelmingly caught in the realisation ,after the penny dropped, so to speak, it was true. I put it to the test , the Gospel, what happened next was profound . I called out to Jesus . As nutty as that was . Thankfully I lived on my own at the time . I believed the Gospel, after hearing it over and over, but rejecting it. Until that night when it was just too clear, to reject anymore. It was terrifying to let go and trust, but That moment I came to know Jesus ( who is God ) .
Romans 8:16

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
I felt it with every part of me at the deepest level and from top to toe . I.ll never forget it . Joy ,peace , freedom , love , just flooded over me and in me . I felt his love for me ,his peace ,his forgiveness . The love of God poured out on me . I was laughing and crying at the same time. All the weight lifted off me and I felt brand new .

Romans 5:5

“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
( I quote the verses ,because afterwards I read what happened to me )

Because of such diverse conceptions of what God is (or isn't) I don't see how the question could be answered. If it was changes to 'How well do you feel you know your version of God?" it might make more sense.
I don't feel I know the Abrahamic version of God (most likely my poor understanding of it) at all, because I doubt it exists. Yet, at the same time, I feel I have some inkling of my version of God, but I'd have to realise it to know it, which hasn't happened yet.

Of course there will be many views, all fine, as this is in the realm of belief.

I do agree it would maybe be better to have written "the God you follow/Believe in"

According to the bible ,this question is answered. And can easily be answered.
Acts 17
19¶And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

20For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

21(For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)

22¶Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

23For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

24God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

25Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

26And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

27That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

Verse 27 answers. Paul is explaining why some have yet to come to know God . Because there looking in the wrong direction , trusting the wrong things .

Thank you for that Barry.
Paul was respectful of their beliefs, but he reasoned with them.
Today, many are not sure what they worship, but they worship.
